David Brillon

Players are now back from break. With only 6 eliminations to go before min-cash is awarded, they are now undertaking the task of making the money.

David Brillon, after doubling up just before the break, is currently leading the pack. He is followed by Tina S, who was our chip leader at the start of Day 2.

Paul Hamamji

We can across a hand that made Paul Hamamji a small fortune. He open-raised to 11K from an early position. That bet was called by Roger Lamia, and then re-raised to 35K by Maxime Laberge. Hamamji went on to place a 4-bet to 80K. When Lamia went out of the way, Laberge went all-in, and was quickly called by Hamamji, for an effective 165K.

Paul Hamamji: King of Spades King of Diamonds
Maxime Laberge: Ace of Clubs King of Clubs

Board: 5 of Spades 3 of Spades 2 of Clubs Queen of Hearts Jack of Hearts

Paul Hamamji successfully dodged Maxime Laberge’s 7 outs to shoot to the top of the leaderboard. He is now definitely top 3 with about 350K, possibly our chip leader. Maxime Laberge was left with just a few chips, and lost them a few hands later when his Jack of Hearts 9 of Hearts fell to Christophe Dissegna’s Ace of Diamonds Queen of Hearts.

We are now 7 eliminations away from the money. Stay tuned!

Pirre-Luc Gaudreau, after an unfortunate turn of events, was left with 1,500 in chips, or half a big blind at the first level of the day. He then went on a tear, and now sits on about 85K! We will keep an eye on this one, for it might become one of those sweet chip-and-a-chair stories.

Meanwhile, Gianfranco Giordano pushed his stack forward after Sébastien Proulx got involved from the under-the-gun position. They were all-in pre-flop, and went to the board:

Gianfranco Giordano: Ace of Spades King of Hearts
Sébastien Proulx: Ace of Hearts Queen of Spades

Board: Jack of Clubs 2 of Hearts 10 of Diamonds 7 of Spades King of Spades

Ouch! Proulx took out his opponent after hitting the reversed out to complete a straight!

Day 2 will soon move into level 16 (2nd level of the Day). As a reminder, levels in Day 2 are 40-minute long, allowing more time to our players, further reducing the luck factor. The field is already reduced to 59 players, having lost most of its short stacks.

This afternoon, we focus on Day 2 of the $550 Deepstack Event. 70 players merited a seat into today’s continuation. We will keep an eye on Roger Lamia, Tina S, Jean-Claude Salame and Luc Raymond, who all have over 200K to start the day with. The minimal prize is $1,100 (double the buy-in), and a very cool $42,500 is up top for the winner. Out of the 70 players that will play today, 30 will get paid. These 30 players will also enjoy a decent overlay, a very cool added value on their equity.

The last of our qualifiers are currently being directed to their respective seats, and play will begin very shortly. We will be publishing updates all day. Good luck all!
