There are just 3 levels to be played in this final Day 1 in the July Power Weekend $550 Deepstack tournament, and there are still 59 players in the action. Some of these players have grown very large stacks that will prove increasingly useful as the day winds down – the top 5 players at this point in the tournament all have over 110K in their stacks.

Play will continue for 3 more levels following which players will bag up their chips to return to play tomorrow (Sunday) at 1:00pm. We will publish the official seating draw with chip counts as soon as possible following the conclusion of play tonight.

Action in Day 1C has picked up as player after player is forced to take the walk up the main aisle in the Tournament Hall after busting – and many of the players are stopping by the media desk to recount their bad beats. The stories are unverifiable by the point a former player visits the desk, but we’re always sympathetic to our fellow players’ predicament!

BUT… yes, calling an all-in on a 3-to-a-flush, 4-to-a-straight, paired board does seem suicidal for the player with an overpair…

Here are some more photos of players in the field.

The players in Day 1C have just taken their second break of the evening, during which tournament staff “raced off” the green T25 chips and we surveyed the 90 remaining stacks for the current chip leaders in the tournament.

So far, we were able to find two players who have build up stacks of greater than 100,000 chips – a good mark to have hit with a long 6 levels yet to play. Interestingly, there is a gap between the leaders at over 100K and the next group of players – the largest stack in the following group being just over 70K.
