The July 2017 Power Weekend is now in full swing. Both $220 Events have passed, and were a clear success, with 111 players in the Mix Max and 216 in the Freezeout. $63,438 were distributed to our money finishers so far, and the biggest pools are yet to be awarded!

55 players battled last night in Day 1A, and 13 of them have secured a seat in Sunday’s Day 2. Today will see a lot of action, as Day 1B will unfold in the tournament room this afternoon, and Day 1C, the last flight of the Event, will be held tonight. As usual in Power Weekends, it will be a loaded Saturday. Players will swarm the Main Event, trying to earn a Day-2 seat alongside our 13 Day 1A qualifiers. Cash games will be opening diligently all day, providing action for the players who prefer sprints to marathons, or those who want to pass time between starting flights.

Registration in Day 1B will be open until 2h30pm. 25,000 in chips, and 14 30-minute levels per flight on the schedule. Playground Poker Club is ready for the big day. Are you?

There are still 24 players remaining in the action as play moves out of the final break today and heads towards the end of level 14 in less than 90 minutes. In the past few levels, Christophe Dissegna’s stack has remained relatively constant while a couple of others have surpassed count to take the lead. The current chip leader is Patrick Boivert.

The play in Day 1A has entered level 9 and during the break that just wrapped up we were able to get an idea of the current chip leaders in the flight so far. In fact, there is one clear leader playing well over 100K in chips while the “best of the rest” at this point haven’t yet cracked 70K!

Everyone who wanted to join Day 1A of the $550 Deepstack has already done so, as the tournament has passed into level 7 meaning that registration is now closed in the flight.

There were a total of 55 entries today, which means that attendance will have to be high in the two Saturday starting flights to avoid an overlay in the tournament. Saturdays are traditionally very busy days for events of this size, so we’re not on “overlay alert” yet…

Among the players in the field today are some very accomplished players such as former Playground event champions Simon Pin-Disle, Tommy Coulombe, Dave Jeanneau-Cyr, Tina S, and Jason Conforti.
