Three players have hit the rail in short succession at the final table of the Playground 200.
Maxime Marcouiller made a good call on his final hand but got a bad result. In a heads-up pot against Sebastien Drolet-Poitras, Marcouiller was in position and made a big call with his tournament life on the line. The flop fell , and Drolet-Poitras, who was the first to act and playing the bigger stack, moved all in. Marcouiller went in to the tank, counted his chips and started going over the possibilities. After a few agonizing moments, Marcouiller pushed his stack forward and slammed his on the table. Drolet-Poitras rolled over , and they both watched for the turn in anticipation. It fell the , completing the flush draw, and Marcouiller knew his run was over. He was already on his way to the tournament desk when the fell on the river. Marcouiller will take home $6,290 for his fifth place finish.
Carl Lafontaine was the next player eliminated. On his final hand, Steve Horic opened the action as the first to act, and Lafontaine moved all in with his short stack. The other players got out of the way, bringing the action back to Horic who quickly tossed a chip in the middle. It was for Horic and for Lafontaine. The flop favoured Horic and although the turn gave Lafontaine some hope, the river gave the pot to Horic. Lafontaine earned $8,240 for the deep run.
Jean-Rene Guay finished in third place, busting on the hand following Lafontaine’s elimination. Guay was down to a very short stack, and he moved all in from the button with . Unfortunately for him, the big blind woke up with a strong hand, and Sebastien Drolet-Poitras made the call with . Drolet-Poitras took a commanding lead on the flop, one that he would not relinquish. The turn and river confirmed the situation on the flop, and Guay was eliminated in third place. He will take home $11,210 for the podium finish.
