Event #4 of the July Power Weekend, the $200 + $30 + $100 PL Omaha Bounty Re-entry, got off to a slow start but steadily picked up pace until 71 entries were in on the action. The bounty hunting of the early levels led to 17 re-entries, enough to build a prize pool that easily surpassed tonight’s guarantee.
The early levels were predictably loose for an omaha bounty tournament, as any four cards seemed good enough to play. This trend kept up for most of the night. The only exception was during the money bubble, where hand-for-hand play lasted for a little more than a level. The bursting of the bubble coincided with the creation of the final table, and the action picked right back up once the cards got in the air.
At the outset of the final table, it seemed like anyone’s game, as several players were close to each other in chips. But before long all the chips wound up in front of two players: Nick Nickoletopoulos and Manfred Gunther. When they were the last two remaining, they decided on an even chop of the prize pool, locking up $3,595 each, leaving an extra $271 for the winner. And the winner was decided within two hands, as Nickoletopoulos won consecutive all in pots to claim victory. Congratulations!
