Event #7 of the July Power Weekend, the $100 + $10 NL Short Deck Hold’em Re-Entry is about to get underway.
The Short Deck is a new addition to the Power Weekend roster, and there is lots of anticipation surrounding this format. The tournament will be played without the 2s, 3s, 4s, and 5s, making for a 36-card deck. And it also comes with a few variations on the traditional hold’em hand rankings; a flush now beats a full house, but the ace still completes the low straight, meaning that A-6-7-8-9 becomes the new “wheel.” Aside from that, all the familiar hold’em rules apply.
Tonight’s event guarantees a prize pool of $8,000 and will start players with a 20,000 chip stack. Late registration and unlimited re-entries will be available until the beginning of the seventh level of play.
Good luck to all!
