    61 Day 2 qualifiers!

    2018/07/28 - 19:14 by Jôle Simard

Day 1C, with its colossal field of 254 entries, sent 61 bags to Day 2, bringing the total number at 157. From that number, 88 will get paid.

Today’s best performance was given by Martin Demondehare, whose 292K stack ranks 6th overall. Tyler Carslaw came in second, having done very well in the last level from his shiny win with an over set of kings.

    Here’s today’s top 5 finishers:

Day 2 is set for 12:00PM sharp tomorrow. Qualifiers from all 3 Live Day 1s and Day 1 Online will merge into a single great field and fight to earn a Day 3 seat, where the big shares await, and we will bring you live updates as the action unfolds. See you tomorrow!

    A brutal blind clash

Mounzer Awada was in the small blind and Tyler Carslaw was in the big blind. They ended up facing each other in a blind versus blind war that inevitably got them to invest every chip.

Both players were very happy to get it in against a wide range, but only one of them kept that feeling after the cards were revealed.

Awada: Queen of Hearts Queen of Clubs
Carslaw: King of Hearts King of Spades

Board: King of Clubs Queen of Spades 7 of Spades Jack of Clubs 10 of Hearts

To add insult to injury, Awada’s flopped set of queens was drawing to a single out! Tough way to go. Carslaw got to stay for the last level and is in a good position to play Day 2, tomorrow at noon.

Yasser Hachem opened a pot with an all-in bet, and the dealer’s all-in announcement was quickly echoed twice. Nick Frascarelli and Odette Tremblay were also fully invested, and the trio went to showdown:

Odette: Jack of Clubs Jack of Hearts
Yasser: 8 of Diamonds 8 of Hearts
Nick: Ace of Spades King of Diamonds

Board: Jack of Spades 10 of Spades 2 of Diamonds 2 of Hearts 7 of Diamonds

Before the flop, Odette called for a jack, and sure enough, the dealer obliged! Nick was eliminated on that hand, while Yasser enjoyed a small profit from the side pot.

Players just took their last break of the day. Day 1C has this particularity of having its players aware of the prize pool during the last few levels. To some, it may be motivating to know that $24,792 awaits the eventual winner!

At this point, our top 5 is a cluster of very tight stacks. Dominique Dion and Michael Malouin are both over 150K, but are gnawed at by a handful of players. Here’s our top 5:

When Mario Duquette found himself in an unopened pot in the cut-off with a premium hand and few chips, he pushed them forward. His 24K stack was matched by William Pauzé on the button, and Kevin Rousselle instantly committed his own stack, worth 23K.

Duquette: Jack of Spades Jack of Clubs
Pauzé: Ace of Hearts 9 of Hearts
Rousselle: Ace of Spades King of Diamonds

Board: 9 of Diamonds 6 of Spades 5 of Spades King of Hearts Queen of Spades

Rousselle’s tournament life was at stake, and when the king appeared on the turn, he pumped his fist, happy to be allowed to stick around. Just like that, he caught up with the average. Duquette was left with a few crumbs, which were lost on the following hand.
