    Andre P still running hot

Our chip leader at the last break, Andre P, is still running hot.

With the blinds at 3K/6K, Andre P got involved in a big pot with Louis Lam, after defending his big blind to Lam’s opening raise. The two played the hands heads-up, and when Andre P checked the turn to Lam on a 6 of Diamonds 2 of Hearts 5 of Hearts 7 of Hearts board, Lam moved all in for slightly more than 80K. After asking for the count, Andre P splashed a pile of 5K chips in the middle, and Lam figured he was beat. “Just one heart” Lam said as he tabled his Ace of Hearts Ace of Spades. Piunno silently tabled his 5 of Clubs 4 of Clubs, and the tabled gasped when the 5 of Spades fell on the river.

Andre P is still near the top of the leader board, but Yan Gohier is in close contention for the chip lead with a stack hovering around 500K.

With the blinds at 1.5K/3K, the action was opened by Ian Monahoyios to 6.5K, and he picked up three callers before the action got to Yan Gohier in the big blind. Gohier took this opportunity to raise it up to 22K, sending the action back to the initial raiser. Not to be deterred, Monahoyios quickly raised all in for roughly 100K. To everyone’s surprise, the first caller of the initial bet, Aaron Shepard, also raised all in for 142K. This brought about a series of snap folds until the action got back to Gohier, who went deep into the tank. Gohier eventually found the fold button, and hands were tabled.

Monahoyios: Ace of Hearts Jack of Spades

Shepard: 9 of Spades 7 of Spades

Board: Queen of Diamonds 4 of Spades 3 of Hearts 4 of Diamonds 2 of Spades

Ace-high was good enough to take this one down, vaulting Monahoyios up the leader board in dramatic fashion.

The field in the 50/50 Bounty is down to less than a third of the original entries, as 56 players remain on six tables.

The gap between the big and small stacks has grown tremendously since the last break, with the largest stacks sitting comfortably with more than twice the chip average while many others are in the red zone with less than ten big blinds. But our chip leader, Andre P, is in a class of his own with more than triple the chip average.

The field in the 50/50 Bounty is down to less than half of the original entries. The stacks are deeper and the pressure is beginning to mount as we enter the eleventh level of the evening.

Although the chip average provides roughly 30 blinds, it probably feels like a short stack given the way this tournament has unfolded. There has been no shortage of over bets and huge opening raises, but that also means that everything can change quickly so even the short stacks still have a legitimate shot at taking this one down.

Here’s a look at the field from level 10:

The late registration period has closed on the 50/50 Bounty but not before 214 players had time to join the fray. The huge turnout puts over 5 million chips in play, building a prize pool that far exceeds tonight’s guarantee.

The current chip average provides nearly 40 big blinds so the players still have lots of options, but with the bounty chips in play, expect them to go all in more often than not.

The late registration period is drawing to a close as the timer on the first break of the evening winds down, and players are rushing to the cashier to get their tournament tickets before it’s too late.

There are lots of deep stacks in the field, and our chip leader, David Ho, is currently playing a stack of more than triple the current chip average. Expect the wild action of the early levels to continue after the break, as the short stacks try to make moves to chip up, there remains plenty of bounty hunting ahead.
