After 12 levels of play, some players have managed to collect an impressive pile of bounties and quite a bit of chips. Réjean Grenier sits behind a wall of stacks, and his 251,000 chips are second only to Nikola Isaev, who’s working with 269,000.

Jonathan Bussières, who was a huge chip leader earlier, dropped down considerably after a big upset, but climbed back up the leaderboard after calling two all-in bets with 5 of Spades 5 of Clubs. He was facing 4 of Diamonds 4 of Spades and Ace of Spades 2 of Spades, a dream showdown for his hand!

Here’s the top 5 at the break:

The Bounty Event, despite allocation a third of the buy-in money to bounties, present a very sexy prize pool. Almost $9K awaits the champion of this 178-player battlefield, with 4-figure amounts to the top 8 bounty hunters and prizes for 23 players!

The last couple of levels has seen many short stacks bite the dust, as wealthier players keep putting the pressure on them, hunting for their bounties. The tournament is now unfolding on 10 tables and at this point there is no knowing when the action will slow down.

Here are a few photographs from level 9:

    A bounty chip for Gunther

    • Level: 9
    • Small Blind: 600
    • Big Blind: 1.2K
    • Button Ante: 600
    • Chip Average: 41.2K
    • Remaining: 108
    • Entries: 178

Brendon Tennant was getting a little short on chips when he decided to roll the dice with Manfred. He was holding a very good hand considering the 6-Max action and his opponent’s volatility, because Manfred Gunther is not one to wait for a premium to make some moves!

Tennant: King of Hearts Queen of Diamonds
Gunther: Jack of Diamonds 9 of Diamonds

Board: Ace of Clubs 8 of Diamonds 3 of Clubs 5 of Diamonds 9 of Hearts

The river, true to its reputation, drowned the leading hand. Gunther is now that much better equipped to deal with Jonathan Bussières, who is building a scary stack on that table.

Gregory Ducharme comes out like a train

    • Level: 7
    • Small Blind: 400
    • Big Blind: 800
    • Button Ante: 400
    • Chip Average: 34.2K
    • Remaining: 129
    • Entries: 178

    2018/07/30 - 21:32 by Jôle Simard

Gregory Ducharme has been doing well in this Power Weekend, and keeps impressing. He leads the 178-player field at the first break with 89K. Nick Frascarelli follows with 78K.

The prizes will be announced very soon, and they should be quite tasty.

    Big action before the break

    • Level: 6
    • Small Blind: 300
    • Big Blind: 600
    • Button Ante: 300
    • Chip Average: 30.9K
    • Remaining: 139
    • Entries: 172

    2018/07/30 - 20:59 by Jôle Simard

We missed the exact action, but when we came to the table, 3 players were all-in and observing the overly relevant river that had just dropped.

Charles Laboissonnière: King of Clubs Queen of Hearts
Mike Fraser: Jack of Spades 10 of Hearts
Hadi Ghattas: 4 of Spades 4 of Hearts

Board: 3 of Hearts 6 of Clubs 9 of Spades 8 of Spades Queen of Spades

Fraser won the main pot with a rivered straight. That same card gave Laboissonière a top pair, and poor Ghattas went from ahead on the turn – although facing a ton of outs against – to 3rd of 3 and losing both pots.
