We are still in the early stages of the Bounty tournament, and we witnessed a hand that every poker player anywhere will recognize.
When we got to the table, the flop was out:
Serge Dalpe pushed forward all his chips and the $100 Bounty. The only other player in the hand was William Blais, who had checked the flop to Serge. He took only a moment to mull things over then said: “call” and tabled his hand:
Serge threw both his cards face up with confidence:
Since this hand was worth recording, you probably know the rest….
The dealer took out the turn , thus putting an end to any possible back-door straight draws for Blais. Then the river hit Dalpe like a tsunami: , crushing his aces, and his tournament.
With a look of disbelief mixed in with disgust Serge got up and headed for the rail. We’ve all seen it before, we’ve all been on either end of the hand before. But it still stings, every time.
So William Blais scoops up the chips and now sits on a stack that hovers around 48,000 chips, almost double the average, more than 100+ bb’s, and definitely a great start.
