Here are a few more shots of the teams in today’s Tag Team event. Tournament staff have just completed managing the merge of team members, and their new seating assignments are displayed on the screen. Play will continue in just a few moments in level 7. Unfortunately, 12 two-person teams had both players eliminated during the first phase of the tournament, so there are just 64 teams left at the tables as play resumes.

    The merge is coming soon!

    • Level: 6
    • Small Blind: 488
    • Big Blind: 800
    • Button Ante: 800
    • Chip Average: 45K
    • Remaining: 84
    • Entries: 152

Play in the first 6 levels in the tournament has now ended and tournament staff is going to take a few minutes to merge the individually seated team members into re-seated 2-player teams. This process takes some time to complete, so the players have been sent on a 25-minute break.

    A few of the teams

    • Level: 4
    • Small Blind: 250
    • Big Blind: 500
    • Button Ante: 500
    • Chip Average: 28.3K
    • Remaining: 129
    • Entries: 146

We’ll be trying to get as many photos of teams in this event as possible – and here’s a start. To be noted – Marcello and Luciano Iacovella are NOT playing as a team! So far there are 73 teams registered and while the pace has slowed somewhat, there’s still lots of time to jump in this fantastic tournament!

60 Teams are already seated in the Tag Team

    • Level: 1
    • Small Blind: 100
    • Big Blind: 200
    • Button Ante: 0
    • Chip Average: 25K
    • Remaining: 120
    • Entries: 120

    2018/10/07 - 11:22 by

Today’s Tag Team event has begun and with just half of level 1 in the books, there are already 60 teams seated (120 individual players), with more coming every few minutes. Each team member started with a stack of 25,000 tournament chips and each team member will be doing their best to preserve and hopefully grow their respective stacks to bring to the merge following level 6.

    Good luck!

The Tag Team is just minutes away!

    2018/10/07 - 10:51 by

At 11:00am today, one of the most highly-anticipated events of the Playground Tournament calendar will get underway – the Tag Team Event!

Over the years this has proven to be one of the most popular events held at Playground Poker Club – it almost always sells out, and the “team” aspect of the tourney adds a buzz to the room that’s only found during the biggest events we host.

The formula for the Tag Team at Playground Poker Club is simple: players register in teams of 2 players each, but then play the first 6 levels as individuals. After level 6, there is a full seating redraw, and each team takes one seat at their new table, merging the two stacks into one (hopefully larger) stack that will be used to continue the tournament. For the rest of the tournament, teammates alternate, switching at the beginning of each new level.

While one team member is playing, he or she can only consult with a partner during a hand by using a “consultation chip” – and each team only gets three of these to start. Teams can accumulate additional consultation chips by eliminating their competition – one extra chip for each team eliminated.

This is certain to be a blockbuster tournament, and cards will be in the air in about ten minutes. Late registration is open until the end of level 6 – exceptionally, NOT until the end of that break. In other words, teams can register until 2:00pm this afternoon.

Good luck to all of the teams today!

Play in the Tag Team this Sunday!

    2018/10/05 - 23:49 by Playground Poker

Sunday October 7th brings one of Playground’s all-time most popular events back to the felts in the Tournament Hall – the famous Tag Team event! Starting at 11:00am, two-player teams will begin play as individuals, taking their opportunity to build up as large a stack as possible.

And then the fun really begins – when play moves to level 7, team members will merge their stacks and continue play as a unit, alternating from level to level, trying to get the team all the way to victory!

    See you on Sunday!
