Charan Malhotra winner of Event #13 Bounty

    2018/10/09 - 5:19 by Playground Poker

Charan came into heads up play against Piotr Wielopolski with a pretty sizable chip advantage, and it only took a few hands to put an end to the tournament.

Piotr got a monster hand and was happy to go all-in. Charan called instantly with his weak ace.

Piotr: King of Hearts King of Clubs

Charan: Ace of Clubs 4 of Diamonds

The four on the flop window 5 of Clubs 7 of Clubs 4 of Spades did not seem too dangerous to Piotr but he was disappointed to see anything hit for Charan anyway.

Piotr’s gut instincts were spot on, because the 4 of Hearts on the turn reduced Piotr’s chances of winning to nothing but the two remaining kings in the deck. The 5 of Diamonds on the river gave Charan a boat and put an end to the final event of the October Power Weekend.

It was a long and arduous road for Charan tonight. He was struggling all evening and was down to very few chips when the tournament reduced to 3 tables. He was also the shortest stack at the onset of the final table, with only 3% of the total chip count and barely 10% of chip leader Douglas James’s stack. His rise to fame started mid-way through the final table. He had gathered enough chips to warrant a 2nd place cash in the 4-way ICM chop. He never seemed to look back after that, and went on to scoop it all in the end.

    Congratulations to all the winners!

Event #13 Champion: Charan Malhotra, $2,550

    The winning hand

    2nd place: Piotr Wielopolski, $2,054

With the players showing signs of fatigue, the action nevertheless remained steady from the last three players.

The action happened pre-flop when Charan raised to 150,000 on the button. From the small blind Eric went all in, and small blind Piotr Wielopolski folded. Charan snap called, opening his hand.

Charan: Ace of Spades Queen of Diamonds

Eric: 5 of Spades 5 of Clubs

The window pretty much sealed Eric’s fate 9 of Diamonds 7 of Spades Ace of Hearts
The turn 9 of Spades and window 8 of Clubs were of no help, and that meant the end for a fantastic run here tonight for Eric Thibodeau.

So it’s now down to Charan Malhotra and Piotr Wielopolski.

    Eric Thibodeau – 3rd place, $2,600

Charan shows off his one and only awarded bounty chip.

Following the elimination of Douglas James in 4th position, the remaining three players soldiered on for a complete level. Charan used this time to build up his stack, and then requested a slight adjustment to the ICM deal.

The $1000 put aside for first place was reduced to $400, with $200 going to each player.

Soon after the players agreed to the ICM chop Douglas James went all-in for 65,000.

The blinds were 20K/40K and all three players called.

Everyone checked the flop: Jack of Spades 8 of Hearts 3 of Hearts

But on the King of Spades turn Piotr made a 90,000 bet and both Charan and Eric folded. Both players showed their hands but Douglas knew this was not going well.

Douglas James: 5 of Diamonds 4 of Spades

Piotr: Jack of Diamonds 7 of Diamonds

So Piotr Wielopolski scoops the pot, sending Douglas James home in 4th place.

After some quick calculations with the help of the Tournament Director, the remaining 4 players have agreed to a modified ICM chop.

An extra $1000 has been put aside for 1st place.

    5th Place for Yannick Labattaglia

The players discussed multiple versions of a deal but could not come to an agreement so play resumed.

A few hands later, Yannick Labattaglia went all in from the button position with 266,000, with only the blinds left to act. Douglas James, who was by far the biggest stack in this hand, called. That left Charan Malhotra to call, with 248,000 chips. Everyone tabled their hands to find that Charan was holding a monster hand.

Charan: Ace of Spades King of Spades

Yannick: King of Clubs 7 of Diamonds

Douglas: King of Diamonds 9 of Clubs

No one hit the board 5 of Diamonds 10 of Spades 8 of Diamonds Queen of Spades 6 of Clubs so Charan took down the pot with ace high. Unfortunately for him, Douglas got Yannick’s $100 bounty since Charan had fewer chips than Yannick.

So this meant the end for Yannick Labattaglia, who goes home in 5th place.

The clock has been stopped to discuss a new possible deal.

    Yannick Labattaglia – 5th position, $1,040
