Simon was UTG and shoved all-in. He was the smallest stack at the table, and was called by Piotr Wielopolski.

Simon has been all-in in almost half the hands since the beginning of the final table. “I’m not afraid to gamble!”, he said with a smile. The mood has been very light and the players seem to be enjoying themselves, despite the late hour.

    Both men tabled their hands:

Simon: 7 of Diamonds 5 of Diamonds

Piotr: Ace of Clubs 8 of Hearts

Both players hit a pair on the flop 2 of Diamonds 7 of Hearts Ace of Spades but Simon needed some more help.

Unfortunately for him the 10 of Spades on the turn did nothing but remove any chances for a flush. The 9 of Diamonds on the river changed nothing and Simon Assouline was eliminated in 6th position.

The players have asked to stop the clock to discuss a deal.

    Simon Assouline – 6th position, $780

Tarek Said out in 7th position

    • Level: 22
    • Small Blind: 15K
    • Big Blind: 30K
    • Button Ante: 15K
    • Chip Average: 760
    • Remaining: 5

Some sneaky limping caught Tarek Said off guard.

With the blinds at 12K/24K Eric Thibodeau limped in from middle position. Yannick Labattaglia limped from the small blind, before big blind Tarek Said shoved all-in. The action came back to chip leader Thibodeau, who instantly called. Labattaglia got the message and got out of the pot.

Tarek tabled his hand: Queen of Spades 8 of Spades

Eric surprised everyone by tabling Big Slick Ace of Diamonds King of Hearts

Nothing on the 7 of Diamonds 10 of Hearts Ace of Hearts 2 of Diamonds 5 of Hearts board helped Tarek and Eric, keeping with his good run tonight, sent Tarek to the rail in 7th position.

    Tarek Said – 7th position, $580

The clock was put on hold while the Tournament Director instructed the dealers to go in hand-per-hand mode. This is standard procedure when approaching the last few spots before the payouts, commonly reffered to as the “bubble”. Some players wanted to make a deal to pay the bubble, but the proposal was rejected by a few of the players. Since this must be a unanimous decision the play continued.

After only a few minutes, there was a hand involving an all-in that was called on table #35. Short stack Sergio De Dominicis was all-in and had received a call from Pierre-Luc Gaudreau. When all the action was completed on the other tables, they got the go-ahead from the Director to table their hands.

Sergio: King of Hearts 10 of Spades

    Pierre-Luc: 10 of Hearts 6 of Hearts

Community cards: Jack of Hearts 8 of Spades 7 of Clubs 10 of Clubs 6 of Clubs

Both players hit the ten on the turn, but the river paired-up Pierre-Luc’s second card. So armed with two pairs Gaudreau knocked out Sergio De Dominicis on the bubble.
