    Day2 – that’s a wrap!

    2018/10/06 - 20:05 by

The Playground 200 has now wrapped up after 10 levels of play on Day 2 and all that’s left is Day 3, which will get underway tomorrow night at 7:00pm. The chip leader at the end of Day 2 was Elie Abdallah, who seemingly came out of nowhere in the final two levels to take a commanding lead – he’ll start Dayy 3 with 2.3M in chips. 13 players will be active when play resumes on Day 3.

We’ll post the seating draw to begin play on Day 3 including up-to-date chip counts as soon as we receive the information from the Tournament Desk.

Cristian Muset hasn’t had a stack to boast about during the Playground 200 up until now – but in the last couple of levels, he has done some serious chipping-up and has taken a huge lead on the field with over 1.6M in his stack.

Play continues in level 23, meaning that players have about 1 and a half levels left before they bag chips to return on Day 3.

It’s definitely a trend… at some point in any tournament in the October Power Weekend, Gary Lucci will sit atop the leaderboard. It doesn’t seem to matter if it’s a Seniors’ Event, a one-day event, or a multi-day tournament like this one – Gary has taken the lead in all of these so far during this extended weekend.

Now it’s the turn of the Playground 200. From a modest starting point today of around 160K, Gary has moved into the chip lead with 855,000 chips going into play in level 21. Which, of course, brings up the secondary question: can he hang on to his lead? All will be learned in time.

Following the bubble, play continued for a few minutes and then players took their first break of the day, during which we were able to put together a leaderboard in the tournament to this point. The leader – and by a good margin – is Simon Belzile, who is now playing over 700K – about double what he started with at noon today. Also on the leaderboard are familiar names like Michael Khan and Gary Lucci – both names frequently seen in leaderboards during events.

Gianfranco Giordano has been eliminated in 62nd place by Glen Arnold – he was the bubble player in this edition of the Playground 200.

The hand started with an under the gun limp from Soterios T, and when action folded around to Gianfranco, he raised all-in. Glen went all-in over the top, and Soterios folded. The players waited with their cards unexposed until all other action was completed… and eventually it was time for the showdown.

Gianfranco: Jack of Hearts Jack of Diamonds
Glen: King of Clubs King of Hearts

There was plenty of suspense leading to this point, but the community cards removed most of that feeling very quickly – by the end of the hand, the board read Queen of Spades 2 of Clubs 3 of Diamonds Queen of Diamonds 5 of Diamonds and Gianfranco hit the rail in 62nd position.

The clock has been paused with 18 minutes left in level 17, and until the next elimination, it will run off an automatic 2 minutes per hand while play is hand-for-hand in the event. There are 62 players left, and the next player to be eliminated will burst the money bubble.
