Players took a short break after level 4 and we headed to the tables to see how the chips are stacking up after 2 hours of play.
104 players are still in the tournament, out of 115 entries (including 8 re-entries), with just about one hour to go in the late registration (or re-entry) period.
We were looking for stacks of 50K and more, roughly double the average, and we found a few. Very few chips separate most of the “leaders”, the only exception being Michael McKinnon who is sitting behind 65,000 chips.
It’s still very early and anything can happen, but we will keep an eye on those players who were fortunate enough to double up before the first break.
First Name | Prénom | Last Name | Nom | Stack | Tapis |
---|---|---|
Michael | McKinnon | 65,000 |
Simon | Belzile | 56,000 |
Hagay | Brener | 54,400 |
Frederick | Gougon | 54,300 |
Massimo | Ruggiero | 53,400 |
Tanvir | Ahmed | 51,700 |
Michel | Leblanc | 50,000 |

Play is strong here in the Tournament Hall as the players end level 3 in a few minutes. Right now we have 98 players active on the tables. We’ve had 107 entries so far, including 6 re-entries. As expected the attendance is rising swiftly and steadily.
Last night 22 players bagged chips, out of the 112 entries. They are now eligible for Day 2 which will be held this Saturday, October 6th at 12:00PM. Any player left with chips tonight at the end of Level 14 will join them.
Here are a few photos taken during level 2.

Day 1B of the Playground 200 tournament in the October Power Weekend is now underway in the Tournament Hall here at Playground Poker Club. Tonight, on this second of three Day 1’s, players will go through 14 levels of 30 minutes each. Blinds are starting at 50/100 and a button ante that will start in level 3. Each player begins with 25,000 in tournament chips. Play will be 10-handed throughout each Day 1 and move to 9-handed play on Day 2 Saturday.
This is a re-entry event, and players may choose to re-enter a starting flight they have played until the end of level 6, and any player – qualified or not for Day 2 – may play in multiple Day 1 starting flights. Players who qualify multiple times for Day 2 will take their best stack forward and forfeit their other stacks.
Late registration and re-entry will be possible until the beginning of level 7, at approximately
10:15pm.
So, like the man said: “Dealers, shuffle-up and deal!”
