The final table action was short lived for Paul Brun who finishes in 9th place of Event #3 PLO Bounty Re-entry tournament.

Paul was quickly joined by Isabelle Morin who finished in 8th place. With a stack rarely above the average, Isabelle’s road was never easy today, and the blinds caught up with her just before the payouts…

Most poker players know that Pot Limit Omaha is a whole different ball game. Don’t let the word “limit” in its name fool you, this game is action-packed on any given day.

Paul Brun seems to have a fairly simple plan: take out as many players as you can in one single hand. Although we did not witness the hand, we were lucky enough to catch the results of this massive hand.

It all started with a 4-way all-in preflop involving Paul Brun, Brian Spoiala, Richard Burton Miller and John Scalise. Let us remember that Scalise was second chip leader after the break.

The hand was over and the cards were being scooped up but players were happy to recount the hand to us and at least give us the two playing hole cards of each player.

John Scalise: King of Clubs 6 of Clubs

Brian Spoiala: Queen of Clubs Jack of Clubs

Paul Brun: Ace of Clubs 7 of Clubs

Richard Burton Miller: 8 of Diamonds 8 of Hearts

On the flop everyone was in for a big surprise and all the players agreed that the hand would have played out in the same manner had they seen the flop before going all-in: 9 of Clubs 8 of Clubs 2 of Clubs

Middle set and three flushes… no one would have backed down. The turn and river changed nothing and Paul Brun with nut flush scooped up 3 bounties and ended up with a massive 180+ stack, roughly 2.5x the average at the time.

This hand started with 19 players on 3 tables. By the time all was said and done, Paul Burton was catapulted to the top of the leader board, and forced a table break with now only 16 players left.

Event #3 PLO on break – Azizul Haque in the lead

After 6 levels of play the players took a 15-minute break. This gave us the opportunity to go survey the tables and see how the chips are stacking up. Our stack radar was set for 80,000 chips, roughly double the average.

Azizul Haque won the last hand before the break and added enough chips to his stack to propel him to the top of the leader board after 6 levels with 117,900 chips. It’s still early, and we all know that things change quickly in PLO, but Azizul is off to a very decent start.

As the late registration and re-entry period closes, play resumes here in the Tournament Hall. The tournament logged 40 entries, including 10 re-entries.

Table #63 saw some action when Philippe Drouin went all-in, and got 2 calls from Tomas Larivee Magni and Manfred Gunther. On the flop: 3 of Diamonds Jack of Spades 3 of Hearts Manfred went all-in effectively pushing Tomas out of the pot.

    Both players tabled their hands.

Philippe Drouin: Queen of Diamonds 8 of Hearts 9 of Hearts King of Clubs One pair

Manfred Gunther: Ace of Hearts Ace of Spades Queen of Clubs 10 of Spades Two pairs

The turn 4 of Hearts and river Jack of Diamonds did not help Drouin.

Gunther picked up a sizeable pot and a welcome Bounty chip.

Players are currently in the last minutes of Level 6, and will take a short break. We will go around the tables to find out who’s in the lead.

Players are settling into their grove as play continues in the Pot Limit Omaha Bounty Re-Entry. As is usually the case in Playground Poker Power Weekends, in-house staff is allowed to play so there are quite a few familiar faces on the tables, as dealers take advantage of their days off to get into the action. Here are a few photos of the players that were taken during level 3.
