Heldar Junior and Gary Lucci have both been eliminated after being reduced to just crumbs along theyway. The biggest beneficiary of Heldar’s chips was Sharrol, who is now up over 400K in chips.

With 6 players left, the clock has now been paused so the remaining players may discuss a deal. The floor is helping with some ICM Chop numbers and the players will make their decision following the negotiations that will come once the numbers have been presented.

    7th place: Gary Lucci, $440

While we were publishing the photos and final table player’s list, the chips have been flying around the table.

Alberto Scuderi was eliminated in 9th place for a $200 prize, Sharrol Alana Segal managed to double up twice, and just now, James McDermott doubled through Gary Lucci. Along the way, Steve Taylor managed to take the chip lead – though now he has just sent over 100K in chips across the table to Junior Heldar… as soon as we start to write a new sentence, there’s another huge hand to report on!

Suffice it to say that James is now the chip leader, Gary is running on fumes, and Junior, Steve and Sharrol all have decent stacks.

The players returned from their most recent break with 13 remaining, but when play resumed there were 3 super-quick eliminations, taking the event directly to the final table. Once play began on the final table, Douglas McQueer was also eliminated relatively quickly, and the tournament was down to 9 players remaining.

At this point, the players decided to make a small deal to take $400 from the prize pool (from 1st and 2nd equally) and give $200 each to the players that finish in 8th and 9th place – so just like that, they’re in the money!

The name “Gary Lucci” is one of the most-typed names so far during the October Power Weekend, because as usual, he plays all of the tournaments and always seems to have a ton of chips! Today’s Seniors’ tourney is no exception.

Gary was already in the lead about 5 minutes before the current break players are taking, but just being “in the lead” seems not to have been good enough – in that last few minutes he managed to eliminate the player in second/third place – Richard Pothier – and take a dominant lead into the break and soon into level 15.

Armand King comes to Playground from Richibouctou Village, NB, for almost all of our large and small events, and he does well – he has at least 10 cashes to his name including a $33K score in World Cup of Cards event a couple of years ago. Alas, it was not to be in today’s Seniors’ tourney – Armand was just eliminated in 17th place.

Preflop, he was facing a raise to 8K and a call, and he chose to 3bet to 17K. The original raiser – Steve Taylor – then shoved over the top. The initial 8K caller folded and Armand called.

Steve: King of Clubs Jack of Clubs
Armand: 8 of Hearts 8 of Clubs

The damage to Armand came on the flop: Queen of Clubs Queen of Spades Jack of Diamonds and the 2 of Clubs and 6 of Clubs only changed the winning holding – it was a flush that took Armand out, not a bigger pair.

    Down to 2 tables

    • Level: 13
    • Small Blind: 2K
    • Big Blind: 4K
    • Button Ante: 4K
    • Chip Average: 72K
    • Remaining: 19

The Seniors’ Tourney has dropped to 18 players remaining, meaning that the tourney is down to 2 active tables and the next major milestone in the event will be the final table, due to be reached when just 10 players remain.
