The Seniors’ Tournament has just resumed after their second break of the day, and the new leaderboard includes the first two players over 100K in chips plus two others just a pip behind that threshold.

The prize pool and official payout table have been released and all of the relevant info is available here.

The tournament is now down to 30 players on three tables and action continues at a rapid pace.

Arnold Yaxley has just taken down a big pot in a hand that seems quite representative of the play so far – mostly because the pot was inflated quite a bit preflop but given effective stacks, people were still playing pretty tight and trappy.

The action opened with 2 limps in early to middle position, and then Eric Ranger in seat 3 raised to 3K (3x the bb at the time). Arnold called, blinds folded, and then both limpers (Gary Lucci and Manny Bloom) called – so the pot was already 13,500 preflop.

The flop came 8 of Clubs 2 of Diamonds Ace of Spades and the early position players who had limped both folded. Eric led with a bet to 5K and Arnold flatted. Both limpers folded and the pot was up to 26,500 – and the turn was dealt: 2 of Hearts. By this time, Eric had less than 10K left in his stack, so he had no option but to go all-in, and Arnold instantly called.

Eric: 8 of Spades 8 of Diamonds
Arnold: Ace of Diamonds Ace of Clubs

Set-over-set! The King of Spades on the river changed nothing and Arnold stacked the chips.

The players in the Seniors’ tournament have just returned from their first break of the day and we managed to put together an early leaderboard in the event while they were away from the tables. It’s too early for anyone to have built a dominant stack – but the current chip leader is playing just a hair less than 3x the starting stack, which is pretty great for level 7!

Here are a few photos taken during levels 2 and 3 of the Seniors’ Tournament today. At the end of level 3, there are still just 41 players seated (and just one elimination) – so come and join the event and perhaps there will be some extra value! Registration closes at 1:15pm.

Play has just begun in a very special event – the Senior’s tournament. Today’s version is a $150 + $15 tourney and boasts a huge $10,000 guaranteed prize pool – a large figure for a guarantee for a daytime tournament on a weekday!

Players start the tournament with 25,000 in tournament chips, and this is a freezeout event – no re-entries or rebuys allowed. Registration is open through to the beginning of level 7 – in other words, until the end of the break following level 6. Blind levels will be 20 minutes each throughout the tournament and the whole thing will wrap up early this evening – this is a single day event.

Participation is restricted to players who are 50 years of age or older, and so far, there are 18 players at the tables.

Good luck to everyone playing today!
