    8th place: Stephan Daoust

The hand following the deal, Stephan Daoust open-shoved for 1,450,000 from middle position. Action folded around to Jeremie Benoit in the big blind, who announced “you’re in trouble my friend” as he tabled his pair of Ace of Diamonds Ace of Hearts. Stephan tabled 9 of Hearts 9 of Spades, but found no help on the board to end his run in 8th.

The 8 remaining players paused the clock to discuss a potential deal, and have agreed to make a slight alteration to the prizes. Their goal was to guarantee everyone at least $5,000 for their efforts, and so they pulled $1,500 from 1st, $1,000 from 2nd and $500 form 3rd, adding these amounts to 7th and 8th place so they total $5,000.

    Here are the new payouts:

    9th place: Andre Dupuis

Andre Dupuis watched his stack slowly dwindle orbit after orbit, until he finally was left with only around 5 big blinds. Sitting in the big blind position, he was faced with an all-in from Mathieu Fontaine Raposo in the small blind. He figured this might be his best chance to go heads-up with two live cards, and made the call holding 10 of Clubs 2 of Hearts, unfortunately for him his hand was dominated by the King of Clubs 10 of Diamonds of his opponent.

With no help on the 7 of Diamonds 9 of Clubs 4 of Spades Jack of Spades 3 of Diamonds board, Andre was eliminated in 9th place.

Jean-Jacques Dubois-Belisle is proving to be a true grinder, as he has carried his short stack through most of the late stages of the tournament. He recently found himself all-in, taking advantage of an unopened pot from the button, and was called by Nick-Real Seide from the small blind.

Jean-Jacques: King of Diamonds 9 of Diamonds
Nick: Ace of Hearts 4 of Diamonds

Board: 2 of Spades Queen of Clubs King of Spades 5 of Hearts 9 of Hearts

With his two-pairs, Jean-Jacques doubled up to just over 2 million in chips, keeping him in the running in this All-Stars for Starlight event.

For the second time on this final table, Michael Moussis found himself up versus pocket aces. In the first instance, his pair of deuces was able to come out as the winner, scoring him a double-up worth over 3-million versus Nick-Real Seide.

This time around, his fate was a little different. After opening to 275,000 from utg+1, he was faced with a 3bet all-in from Andrey Vainer worth 1,655,000. Once the rest of the table got out of the way, and after a moment of contemplation, he announced the call.

Michael: Ace of Hearts Queen of Clubs
Andrey: Ace of Spades Ace of Clubs

Board: Queen of Hearts 8 of Hearts 9 of Diamonds 6 of Diamonds 4 of Hearts

Michael couldn’t go 2 for 2 versus the pair of aces, and gave up nearly 60% of his stack to his neighbour.

    10th place: Theo Psihogios

Theo Psihogios was all-in in back-to-back hands, but couldn’t find the double-up he much needed as the short stack on this final table.

On the first hand, he pushed in an unopened pot with Ace of Hearts 8 of Diamonds, and chopped the pot versus Ace of Clubs 7 of Hearts.

The very next hand, he 3bet all-in for 485,000 after an open to 250,000 from Nick-Real Seide, and the two players went heads-up to action.

Theo: Jack of Spades Jack of Hearts
Nick: Ace of Hearts Jack of Clubs

Nick connected with the board just in time to score the knockout, as he paired his ace on the river with a board showing 8 of Spades 5 of Diamonds Queen of Spades 10 of Clubs Ace of Diamonds, ending Theo’s run in 10th place.

A minor adjustment was made once players arrived at the final table, as they agreed to pull $400 out from first to award $2,000 total to the eventual 10th place finisher.

Following a raise to 250,000 from Nick-Real Seide from under the gun, Michael Moussis moved all-in for 1,425,000 from middle position. The 7 players left to act got out of the way, and Nick made the quick call.

Nick: Ace of Diamonds Ace of Hearts
Michael: 2 of Diamonds 2 of Spades

Michael cheered when he saw the deuce on the flop, and went on to win the hand as the board ran 10 of Clubs 2 of Clubs 3 of Hearts 6 of Diamonds 9 of Clubs, putting a dent in the former-chip leader, who now holds around 2-million.

With the most recent elimination of Eric Boire in 11th place, the All-Stars for Starlight tournament has now reached it’s final table of 10 players! There is a significant difference between finishing 10th and 1st place, and so we can expect players to be at their top of the game in the levels to come.

Nick-Real Seide still leads the way, holding roughly 3.6 million, but Mathieu Fontaine Raposo is only inches behind at this point.

Congratulations to all the final tableists!

    Eric Boire eliminated in 11th

Eric Boire was grinding a short stack for some time now, and most of his all-in shoves made it through uncalled. On this last hand however, his utg all-in for 510,000 found some action, as Name Withheld isolated from the small blind.

Eric: Jack of Hearts 9 of Hearts

Name: Queen of Hearts Queen of Spades

It was definitely an action flop, as Eric picked up a flush draw, while Name flopped a set, however it was all but over by the turn, as the board ran Queen of Clubs 4 of Hearts 3 of Hearts 4 of Diamonds 8 of Spades.

The All-Stars for Starlight tournament has now reached it’s final table of ten players!

    11th place: Eric Boire – $1,600

Bestard eliminated first hand back from the break

Mathieu Fontaine Raposo opened his button to 220,000, and Devon Bestard opted to move in for his last 920,000 from the big blind. Mathieu made the quick call, and players tabled their hands:

Mathieu: King of Hearts King of Diamonds
Devon: 5 of Spades 5 of Diamonds

Board: Queen of Clubs 7 of Diamonds 6 of Clubs 2 of Clubs Jack of Clubs

Devon couldn’t overcome his opponents cowboys, and found his way to the cashiers to collect his 12th place prize. We are now but one elimination away form our final table of 10 players.

    12th place: Devon Bestard – $1,600
