    Jonathan Bussieres

    Jonathan Bussieres

Jonathan Bussieres has just won the biggest pot to date of the tournament, as he 3bet from the big blind when faced with a UTG open by Jeff, who replied with a 4bet all-in. Jonathan made the call, and the two were flipping for a pot worth nearly 50% of the chips in play.

Jonathan: Ace of Hearts King of Spades
Jeff: Jack of Clubs Jack of Hearts

Jonathan spiked his king on the 2 of Diamonds King of Diamonds Queen of Clubs 4 of Diamonds 6 of Spades board to scoop the massive pot, and take over the chip lead. He now holds around 1.5 million in chips.

    5th place: Levi Stevens

With a short stack of 117,000 and holding a pair in hand, Levi Stevens 3bet shoved from the blinds over a button-open from Jeff. Unfortunately for him, his 3 of Diamonds 3 of Clubs were crushed by the 4 of Spades 4 of Diamonds of Jeff, and with no help on the 8 of Spades 8 of Hearts Queen of Hearts 2 of Spades 9 of Clubs board, Levi was sent packing in 5th place.

    6th place: Nicolas Aubut

Nicolas Aubut has been on a great run this week, having final tabled 3 events in 3 days. He started by winning Event 3 on Monday night, and then placed 4th on Tuesday afternoon in Event 4, after a deal was made 5-handed.

Tonight he struck again, making the final table of this $300 + $30 Deepstack event. When play fell 6-way, he found himself as the short stack of the tournament. Following an open from the button by Jonathan Bussieres, he moved all-in for his remaining 100,000 from the small blind, finding himself heads-up versus Jonathan.

Jonathan: King of Spades King of Clubs
Nicolas: Ace of Hearts 5 of Diamonds

The pair of kings held on the 3 of Spades 9 of Clubs 2 of Clubs 10 of Diamonds 5 of Clubs board, ending Nicolas’ run in 6th place.

    6th place: Nicolas Aubut – $2,100.00

Four quick eliminations in the first 3 hands

It only took 3 hands on this final table to go from 10 to 6 players. Martin Casaubon was the first casualty, eliminated on the first hand of the final table, and he was quickly followed by Roger Lamia, eliminated by Jonathan Bussieres on the second hand of play.

Jeff Rosenblatt then knocked out two more on the very next hand, as he opened from early position, and called off the short-stack all-ins of Pierre Olivier Guay and of Andre Bilodeau.

Jeff: 10 of Spades 10 of Clubs
Andre: 9 of Hearts 9 of Diamonds
Pierre Olivier: Ace of Spades Queen of Hearts

Jeff made a runner-runner straight on the King of Spades 7 of Hearts 8 of Spades 9 of Spades Jack of Diamonds board to score the double knockout, increasing his holdings to over 800,000 – good for the chip lead. He has since picked up a few more chips.

    7th place: Pierre Olivier Guay – $1,620.00

Event 6 reached the money-bubble when the 13 players decided to pay an extra spot, and guarantee themselves all a payout. They pulled money from the top 5 spots to award $330 to 13th place, and with that the tournament is now in the money!

Jason Mottershead fell in 15th place to the hands of Nicolas Aubut, who has just scored his third cash in as many days after finishing 1st in Event 3, and then placing 4th in Event 4 the following day. Next to go was Christopher King, who pushed his last 50,000 from late position with Ace of Clubs 9 of Clubs, and lost to the King of Clubs 8 of Hearts of Ruben Perceval in the big blind.

The tournament fell on break moments later, and during that time we did full counts of the remaining 13 players. Interestingly enough, it seems that most of the chips in play are found on Table 66, as not a single player on Table 62 is above average. Here is the current chip distribution as play enters level 21:

    Perceval shoots up the leaderboard

    Ruben Perceval

    Ruben Perceval

After being on the winning end of a few confrontations with big stack Jeff Rosenblatt, Ruben Perceval has managed to substantially increase his chip stack in the last few orbits. He took two big chunks out of the former chip leader before losing some chips himself, and currently holds around 475,000, putting him in the current chip lead.

Play has slowed down a little in the recent level, surely due to the money-bubble factor, however this can change quickly as many players have become short stacked in the process, with 5 players sitting under the 10 big blind range.

Rosenblatt separates himself from the field

E06-1974Jeff Rosenblatt has gone on a hot streak in the last two levels, and has more than doubled his already impressive stack, climbing up to roughly 600,000 in chips. He now holds almost double any other player left in the field. Patrick St-Onge has climbed the leaderboard in recent levels as well, and now sits in a comfortable second place, with around 325,000, while Roger Lamia has regained his spot on the leaderboard.

With the recent eliminations of Bill Kontaratos, Nathan Salois and Marco Souza, we are now but 3 spots away from in the money.
