Event 3 Champion: Nicolas Aubut

Event 3 Champion: Nicolas Aubut

Event 3 of the TonyBet Winter Festival attracted a total of 158 players and after 8 hours of play, Nicolas Aubut has emerged as the champion!

The final table began with two separate deals being made. First, they chose to double the value of the Bounty (each player would give two bounty chips to the player that eliminated them), which would serve to accelerate the pace of eliminations. Second, the 10 final table participants agreed on a chip-chop, leaving $600 plus the trophy in the prize pool for the eventual winner.

The two players who ended up playing heads up for the victory arrived at the final table as short stacks – both were close to having the smallest count in the tournament at that point. Gradually, each one caught up to the average and finally they ended up playing head to head.

The heads up match between Marco Cannizzaro and Nicolas Aubut lasted about 15 minutes before there was an all-in and a call. Nicolas connected with his Ace on the flop and never looked back, winning the hand, the tournament, and the trophy. In addition, Nicolas managed to collect a massive total of 19 bounties (in addition to his own, which he kept). Congratulations!

Action from the final table

2016/02/02 - 4:51 by

Since the deal that was made at the beginning of the final table, the rate of elimination accelerated significantly. 3 players have hit the rail in the first level of play – Jeff Rosenblatt, Brian Morgan and Shneor Zalman Hus were the first three victims.

The action slowed down a little when there were just 4 players remaining, but finally the match was left to just 2 participants – Marco Cannizzaro and Nicolas Aubut.

    Bounty tournament tonight!

    2016/02/01 - 17:56 by

Tonight sees one of the all-time favourite tournament formats at Playground Poker Club – a bounty tournament! Every player will buy in to the event as usual, but along with their starting stack of 20K in chips, they will also receive a special $25 Bounty chip. This bounty chip stays with a player as long as he or she is in the tournament – but when the player is eliminated, his or her bounty chip goes to the player who did the deed. Meanwhile, if that player has eliminated others, he or she can take those bounty chips and exchange them for cash them in at the end of the evening.

Event 3 will begin at 7:30pm and late registration will be available until 9pm – so there’s still lots of time to get out to Playground and join in the fun!
