The dealers are seated, the cards are fanned and the players are starting to roll in and take their seats for this Event 9 of the TonyBet Winter Festival, which is a one-day Deepstack Turbo tournament. Players will start with 25K in chips, and the blinds will increase every 15 minutes of play – certainly leading to a more aggressive style of play.

The tournament will begin at 8pm sharp, although late registration will remain open through the first 5 levels and break, so players will have until 9:30pm to jump into the action. Come on down and join us!

    See you on the felts!

    3 levels remain

Play has entered level 11, and following this round there will be the last break of the night, with two more final levels of play. Rodney Hollet is steadily growing his stack, and still maintains the chip lead with his 180,000 stack. Recent additions to the leaderboard include Goran Brestovac, Rene Gauvin and Senthuran Vijayaratnam, who have all surpassed the 6-figure mark in recent levels.

We will bring a more detailed update on the leaderboard during the next break, in roughly 45 minutes.

    Deepstack Turbo tonight!

    2016/02/07 - 16:35 by

    Deepstack Turbo tonight!

Now that the three starting flights of the Main Event are wrapping up, it’s time for other events in the TonyBet Winter Festival. Tonight is one of the most beloved tournament formats ever run here at Playground Poker Club – the Deepstack Turbo.

About the name: it’s called “Deepstack” because players start with 25K in chips, and “Turbo” because blinds are just 15 minutes long. This makes for an explosive combination in which players find themselves in critical situations very early in the tournament. Players must keep their wits about them from the very beginning of the tourney to make it deep.

Action gets underway at 8pm and late registration is available until 9:30.
