Event 4 – Results & Payouts

2016/02/02 - 21:11 by

Event 4 in the TonyBet Winter Festival was a $100 + $10 NL Hold’em Single Rebuy tournament with a total of 64 players and 13 rebuys, which added up to a total prize pool of $7,469.00. This was distributed according to the following table.

Note that there were two player deals reached. First was a bubble save for the player in 8th place. This money was taken from the 1st place prize. Second, with 5 players remaining they chose to reserve $150 and the trophy for the eventual winner and distribute the rest of the prize pool via ICM chop. The 8-Max is on tonight

The TonyBet Winter Festival continues tonight with Event 5, a $150 + $15 No Limit Hold’em 8-Max tournament. Play begins at 7:30pm, but late registration will remain open until the end of the first break, at 9pm.

The 8-max formula has proven to be a popular one here at Playground Poker Club, and has even been included into the weekly regular schedule. The short-handed aspect gives players more room to manoeuvre with, as there are few opponents in each hand.

Cards are in the air, and 44 players are already in their seats, although this number is sure to climb fast. Come down and join us!

    See you on the felts!

    Two more eliminations

As expected, since the deal was made, the pace has picked up once again. The first to go, in 5th place, was Richard Lupovich, and this was immediately followed by the elimination of Nicolas Aubut (who won last night’s Bounty event).

The remaining 5 players in Event 4 have reached a deal. They have agreed to set aside $150 plus the trophy for the eventual winner and distribute the rest of the prize pool via ICM chop. Play continues in level 18. At the time of the deal, Jonathan Puissant had a massive chip lead over the rest of the field, with more than double what any other player had accumulated (465K compared with under 200K for 2 other players).

    Some eliminations

After slowing down for some time, action at the final table of Event 4 picked back up extremely quickly, and in short succession there have been 5 eliminations and a small deal made!

The deal is simple – at 8 players remaining, the players chose to take $110 from the first prize and award it to the 8th place finisher as a bubble save.

Then play continued and in short order there were 3 more eliminations.

    6th place: Daniel Thibodeau, $415.00

Event 4 has reached the final table of 10 players – although the main significance is that now the money bubble is just 3 eliminations away! The top 7 players will be paid in this tournament, so play has tightened up considerably as the big stacks are content to let the small stacks pick up small pots here and there rather than challenge all of the time.\

There is another break coming in just a few minutes, so we’ll update the counts for everyone left in the tournament at that time.

    A new Event 4 leaderboard

Play has continued at a fast pace in Event 4 and a couple of players have taken a significant lead on the field – and it’s notable than none of the chip leaders just 4 levels ago are still among the large stacks in the tournament.

There are just 17 players still in the action, and with several small stacks still playing, the pace is likely to continue to be quite rapid.

    Leaders in Event 4

The players in Event 4 took a break a few minutes ago and during the break we found three players who had built up a decent lead at this stage of the tournament. There’s still a lot of play left before Event 4 is in the books, so there are sure to be big changes before the end of the event. Currently there are 28 players remaining on 3 tables and play continues in level 10.
