Here are a few photos of the action in Event 3.
Final 6 make a deal
After much back and forth, the final 6 players in the All-Stars for Starlight found a deal that they can all agree on.
Given the structure of the event, at least 2% of the total prize needed to be left for the eventual champion, who will also collect the TonyBet Winter Festival Champion’s Trophy. They agreed to lock in $12,000 each, and leave and additional $2,900 to first, and an additional $1,722 for second place.
Congratulations!
Here are the chip counts of the final 6 players as they were negotiating a deal:

7th place: Jean-Jacques Dubois-Belisle
Shortly after the elimination of Stephan Daoust, Jean-Jacques Dubois-Belisle moved his short 800,000 stack in, and found isolation from Andrey Vainer on the button.

The remaining 6 players are now discussing a potential deal. We will be back with more details shortly.
7th place: Jean-Jacques Dubois-Belisle – $5,000
8th place: Stephan Daoust
The hand following the deal, Stephan Daoust open-shoved for 1,450,000 from middle position. Action folded around to Jeremie Benoit in the big blind, who announced “you’re in trouble my friend” as he tabled his pair of

Minor adjustments to the prizes
The 8 remaining players paused the clock to discuss a potential deal, and have agreed to make a slight alteration to the prizes. Their goal was to guarantee everyone at least $5,000 for their efforts, and so they pulled $1,500 from 1st, $1,000 from 2nd and $500 form 3rd, adding these amounts to 7th and 8th place so they total $5,000.
Here are the new payouts:
Place | Old Prize | New Prize |
---|---|---|
1st | $25,600 | $24,100 |
2nd | $18,223 | $17,223 |
3rd | $12,600 | $12,100 |
4th | $10,000 | $10,000 |

7th | $4,000 | $5,000 |
8th | $3,000 | $5,000 |
9th place: Andre Dupuis
Andre Dupuis watched his stack slowly dwindle orbit after orbit, until he finally was left with only around 5 big blinds. Sitting in the big blind position, he was faced with an all-in from Mathieu Fontaine Raposo in the small blind. He figured this might be his best chance to go heads-up with two live cards, and made the call holding

With no help on the
board, Andre was eliminated in 9th place.

The short stack doubles-up!
Jean-Jacques Dubois-Belisle is proving to be a true grinder, as he has carried his short stack through most of the late stages of the tournament. He recently found himself all-in, taking advantage of an unopened pot from the button, and was called by Nick-Real Seide from the small blind.

With his two-pairs, Jean-Jacques doubled up to just over 2 million in chips, keeping him in the running in this All-Stars for Starlight event.
Moussis goes 1 for 2
For the second time on this final table, Michael Moussis found himself up versus pocket aces. In the first instance, his pair of deuces was able to come out as the winner, scoring him a double-up worth over 3-million versus Nick-Real Seide.
This time around, his fate was a little different. After opening to 275,000 from utg+1, he was faced with a 3bet all-in from Andrey Vainer worth 1,655,000. Once the rest of the table got out of the way, and after a moment of contemplation, he announced the call.

Michael couldn’t go 2 for 2 versus the pair of aces, and gave up nearly 60% of his stack to his neighbour.
Another All-Star paid us a visit!
One of Montreal’s favourite all-time all-stars was dining at The Rail Coal Fire Bistro tonight – Mr Guy Lafleur! Of course we wanted to immortalize the moment with a photo, and Guy – as usual – was happy to oblige.
10th place: Theo Psihogios
Theo Psihogios was all-in in back-to-back hands, but couldn’t find the double-up he much needed as the short stack on this final table.
On the first hand, he pushed in an unopened pot with
, and chopped the pot versus

The very next hand, he 3bet all-in for 485,000 after an open to 250,000 from Nick-Real Seide, and the two players went heads-up to action.

Nick connected with the board just in time to score the knockout, as he paired his ace on the river with a board showing

A minor adjustment was made once players arrived at the final table, as they agreed to pull $400 out from first to award $2,000 total to the eventual 10th place finisher.
