Following a raise to 250,000 from Nick-Real Seide from under the gun, Michael Moussis moved all-in for 1,425,000 from middle position. The 7 players left to act got out of the way, and Nick made the quick call.

Nick: Ace of Diamonds Ace of Hearts
Michael: 2 of Diamonds 2 of Spades

Michael cheered when he saw the deuce on the flop, and went on to win the hand as the board ran 10 of Clubs 2 of Clubs 3 of Hearts 6 of Diamonds 9 of Clubs, putting a dent in the former-chip leader, who now holds around 2-million.

With the most recent elimination of Eric Boire in 11th place, the All-Stars for Starlight tournament has now reached it’s final table of 10 players! There is a significant difference between finishing 10th and 1st place, and so we can expect players to be at their top of the game in the levels to come.

Nick-Real Seide still leads the way, holding roughly 3.6 million, but Mathieu Fontaine Raposo is only inches behind at this point.

Congratulations to all the final tableists!

    Eric Boire eliminated in 11th

Eric Boire was grinding a short stack for some time now, and most of his all-in shoves made it through uncalled. On this last hand however, his utg all-in for 510,000 found some action, as Name Withheld isolated from the small blind.

Eric: Jack of Hearts 9 of Hearts

Name: Queen of Hearts Queen of Spades

It was definitely an action flop, as Eric picked up a flush draw, while Name flopped a set, however it was all but over by the turn, as the board ran Queen of Clubs 4 of Hearts 3 of Hearts 4 of Diamonds 8 of Spades.

The All-Stars for Starlight tournament has now reached it’s final table of ten players!

    11th place: Eric Boire – $1,600

Bestard eliminated first hand back from the break

Mathieu Fontaine Raposo opened his button to 220,000, and Devon Bestard opted to move in for his last 920,000 from the big blind. Mathieu made the quick call, and players tabled their hands:

Mathieu: King of Hearts King of Diamonds
Devon: 5 of Spades 5 of Diamonds

Board: Queen of Clubs 7 of Diamonds 6 of Clubs 2 of Clubs Jack of Clubs

Devon couldn’t overcome his opponents cowboys, and found his way to the cashiers to collect his 12th place prize. We are now but one elimination away form our final table of 10 players.

    12th place: Devon Bestard – $1,600

    The field is shrinking fast

One can not say there has been a lack of action here in Day 3 of the All-Stars for Starlight, as we’ve already lost 17 of the 30 players that started the night just two hours ago.

Andre Vezina was eliminated in 16th place, while Alberto Scuderi fell into the trap of Mathieu Fontaine Raposo to place in 15th. Moments later we lost David Bolduc Hamel, as his chips were claimed by the monster stack of Nick-Real Seide.

Kosta Papa, the chip leader to start the day, was the next to go, as his AK ran into the AA of Mathieu Fontaine Raposo, who now joins the chip leaders.

There will be a break in around 20 minutes, and during this time we will bring a full update on all the stacks still in play.

Two huge chip leaders have emerged in the All-Stars for Starlight event with 15 players left. Nick-Real Seide – who has won an event like this in the past – is currently playing over 4M in chips, and Jeremie Benoit – at the same table as Nick-Real – is now playing over 3.7M in chips. Behind these two monster stacks is Mathieu Fontaine Raposo with around around 3M, and then the next player has approximately 1.6M.

We’ll get full counts for the remaining players on the next break.

Janendra Mahendra Rajah has successfully managed to ladders up a few pay levels though he started today with the second smallest stack in the tournament. His elimination hand wasn’t terribly exciting – he open shoved from the button holding Queen of Clubs Jack of Clubs and Nick-Real Seide called from the small blind (and playing a huge stack). Nick-Real had Ace of Hearts Td.

Janendra was unable to hit on the 10 of Clubs 3 of Clubs 8 of Spades 4 of Diamonds King of Spades and he was eliminated in 17th place.

    Bestard wins a huge 4-way all-in

We were drawn to table 36 as there was a lot of commotion going on, and it turns out there was a four-way all-in underway! We missed the exact action preflop, but here were the hands that were tabled:

Philip Tse (utg): King of Diamonds 9 of Diamonds
Kosta Papa (cutoff): 8 of Spades 8 of Diamonds
Michel Poulin (button): Ace of Clubs King of Spades
Devon Bestard (big blind): Queen of Clubs Queen of Diamonds

Players were chanting for all kinds of different cards, but in the end it was Devon and his queens who won the lion-share of the pot, as the board ran out 10 of Clubs 3 of Diamonds Jack of Diamonds 9 of Hearts 10 of Spades, running his stack up a little short of 2-million chips. Philip and Michel were eliminated in the process, and Kosta survived with nearly 1,300,000 behind.

    18th place: Michel Poulin – $1,050

Busting out too fast to track

One of the things to remember about this tournament is that even though the prizes are starting to get very large, it’s still fundamentally a $160 tournament, and play never really tightens up the same as it does in tournaments with larger buy-ins.

Consequently, eliminations can come very quickly when they come – sometimes too quickly to track in this blog!
