  • The stage is set, the lights are on and the cameras are in place here at Playground Poker Club, where in a few short hours we will be hosting the Final Table of the Party Poker WPT Montreal Main Event.

    Mukul Pahuja, 5,945,000

Only 6 players remain out of the 862 entrants that participated in this years Main Event, and the televised table is headlined by New York pro Mukul Pahuja, who is bringing a healthy stack of nearly 6 million. He is the most experienced poker player of the six, and has been actively playing big live events for a number of years now. Although he’s had a lot of success in his career, including a 3rd place finish in the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open in Hollywood earlier this year, where he turned his $5,300 investment into a $872,625 payout, he is still in pursuit of his first major event title. He is being railed by his brother and fellow poker pro Vineet Pahuja, who made the final table of the Full Tilt Poker Montreal Festival Main Event earlier this year, finishing in 5th place. Vineet is also well know in the poker circuit, but, much like his brother, has yet to win a big event. Maybe this will be the one for the Pahuja family!

    Mukul Pahuja

    Sylvain Siebert, 8,435,000

The chip leader coming into today is Sylvain Siebert, who doesn’t have too much experience deep in big events, but did manage to make last year’s final table of the WPT Montreal, finishing in 5th place. Him and his almost 8.5 million chip stack are looking to improve on that score this year, and he is definitely in the right spot to do so.

    Sylvain Siebert

    Serge Cantin, 6,960,000

Not far behind Sylvain in chips is Serge Cantin, who, although being unknown for the most part in the poker world, did make a deep run in last years WPT Montreal Main Event. Him and Sylvain played together in the later stages of the tournament, but Serge fell just short of the official final table of, finishing in 7th place.

    Serge Cantin

    Lily Kiletto, 370,000

The shortstack of the final table is Lily Kiletto, who has a stack of 370K, good for just over 6 big blinds. This fierce tournament player is not to be underestimated though, as she has quite a bit of experience in the poker world, and has already made a WPT Final table, when she finished runner up in the WPT Lucky Hearts Poker Open in Hollywood earlier this year. She is being railed by known poker pro James Caldarero, who also played in the WPT Montreal Main Event and the Fall Classic High Roller.

    Lily Kiletto

    Derrick Rosenbarger, 1,985,000

Derrick Rosenbarger, who is coming back today with nearly 2 million chips, is a US Airforce pilot from Destin, Florida. Although he doesn’t have much experience in big live events, he has proven to be a worthy opponent who is capable of mixing up his game and playing with the best. We saw him be very active throughout the Main Event, and even pull some magnificent bluff, including a triple-barrel bluff versus Ludovic Lacay in the late stages of Day 4.

    Derrick Rosenbarger

    Alexandre Lavigne, 2,150,000

The final player on this final table is local Alexandre Lavigne, who also doesn’t have much experience in the bigger events. This is looking to be his first significant cash, and if he keeps up his solid performance, he has a chance of making a nice score.

    Alexandre Lavigne

There is a huge gap in the chips in this final table, as the top three all sit on stacks of 5.9M or more, and hold over 80% of the wealth, and the bottom three are all below 2.2M. The average stack is still of 66 big blinds though, so it really is anyone’s game.

The final table will start at 3pm today, and you can view the live stream here, which will begin at around 4:30pm. Chip counts and seating arrangements are available here.

Good luck to our 6 final table players!

  • The final table for the 2013 WPT Montreal is set! Play on the unofficial final table that started 10-handed was very slow as players arrived to the table relatively even in chips, but eventually the action heated up and almost all the way through level 28 the final table of 6 were all that remained.

The final table is scheduled to start at 3pm tomorrow though it is unlikely that cards are in the air before 4pm. The six remaining players will be on a table in the middle of the massive set that’s being built in the Tournament Hall.

There will be a live stream available through lifestream.com and the whole affair is being recorded for television.

The players will start the event in the same seats they were sitting in to end the day – the last redraw was at 10 players remaining. There are just over 8 minutes left in level 28.

Here are the seats and chip counts to start tomorrow:

First Name Last Name Seat Chip Count
    Serge Cantin Seat 1 6,960,000

  • Our WPT Canadian Spring Championship winner Amir Babakhani has just bubbled to official final table of 6, as his Ace of Spades Queen of Diamonds was bested by Sylvain’s Ace of Hearts 8 of Hearts on a Ace of Diamonds 8 of Diamonds King of Clubs Jack of Clubs 7 of Diamonds board.

This means we now have our televised table for tomorrow, which will begin at 3pm. Chip counts and seating arrangements will be available shortly.

    7th place: Amir Babakhani, $86,750

    Mukul takes a big one

  • Level: 28
  • Small Blind: 30K
  • Big Blind: 60K
  • Ante: 10K
  • Chip Average: 3.7M
  • Remaining: 7
  • Entries: 862

  • We missed the beginning of the hand – when we arrived the board read 9 of Diamonds 5 of Spades 10 of Clubs Ace of Clubs Jack of Spades and Mukul had made a big bet of 465K. Derrick was deeply in the tank and remained there until Mukul called time. The dealer announced that time had been called and Derrick had 60 seconds in which to act. After just about 20 seconds Derrick called and Mukul flipped over King of Spades Queen of Diamonds for the straight and Derrick just mucked and shipped over the 465K.

After stacking the chips, Mukul was up to just about 6.5M.

    8th Place: Marco Cannizzero

  • Level: 28
  • Small Blind: 30K
  • Big Blind: 60K

  • Chip Average: 3.7M
  • Remaining: 7

  • We are now on the bubble of the televised final table of 6, as we lost another player to bring the field down to 7.

We saw Marco 3bet to 350K from the big blind after a raise to 125K from Serge in the hijack, and a flat from Derrick on the button. All three players went to the flop, which showed 8 of Diamonds 10 of Hearts Jack of Clubs, and Marco, first to act, open shoved his stack of over 2 million. Serge made the call, and Derrick let the two battle it out heads-up.

Marco: Ace of Spades King of Hearts

Serge: Jack of Spades 10 of Spades

The turn 3 of Clubs and river 5 of Hearts didn’t change anything, and Marco was eliminated in 8th place for $68,992. Not a bad score for a satellite winner! Serge is now closing on the 7M chip mark.

    8th Place: Marco Cannizzero, $68,992

    Alexandre Lavigne Doubles Up

  • Level: 28
  • Small Blind: 30K
  • Big Blind: 60K
  • Ante: 10K
  • Chip Average: 3.2M
  • Remaining: 8
  • Entries: 862

  • Alexandre Lavigne, the short stack of the final table, just doubled up, as we went all-in under the gun for 1.05M and was called by Amir in the small blind.

Amir: Ace of Clubs King of Clubs

Alexandre: 9 of Clubs 9 of Spades

The board of 6 of Hearts 5 of Clubs 10 of Diamonds 6 of Diamonds Queen of Hearts was good for Alexandre’s pair of 9s, and he doubled up to just over 2.1M chips.

    9th Place: Ludovic Lacay

  • Level: 28
  • Small Blind: 30K
  • Big Blind: 60K
  • Ante: 10K
  • Chip Average: 3.2M
  • Remaining: 8
  • Entries: 862

  • We’ve just lost another player here at the final table of the WPT Montreal Main Event, as Ludovic Lacay got all his chips in on the turn, with the board showing 10 of Spades 6 of Spades 3 of Spades Jack of Hearts, and was called by Sylvain Siebert.

Ludovic: 10 of Clubs Jack of Clubs

Sylvain: King of Spades King of Hearts

Ludovic had a lot of cards he needed to fade to survive the hand with his two-pair, and unfortunately for him it was the 6 of Clubs that fell on the river, giving Sylvain a higher two-pair. Ludovic collected $51,817 for his final table run.

    9th place: Ludovic Lacay

    10th Place: Antoine Berube

  • Level: 28
  • Small Blind: 30K
  • Big Blind: 60K
  • Ante: 10K
  • Chip Average: 2.9M
  • Remaining: 9
  • Entries: 862

  • We’ve just seen our first elimination on this final table of the WPT Montreal Main Event, as Antoine was eliminated after getting his chips in best.

Mukul Pahuja raised from the hijack position to 125K, and Antoine called from the big blind. The board was Queen of Clubs 6 of Clubs 9 of Hearts, and Antoine checked to Mukul, who put out a bet of 240K. Antoine tanked for a minute, and then announced all-in for a little over 1M in chips. Mukul snap called, tabling his overpair of King of Hearts King of Spades, which were behind Antoine’s Queen of Diamonds 9 of Diamonds for top two pair. The turn however changed everything, as it was the King of Clubs, and Antoine was now drawing dead. The meaningless 8 of Clubs hit the river, and Antoine was sent to the cashiers to pick up his $38,135 score.

    10th place: Antoine Berube, $38,135

  • Ludovic Lacay opened too 100k from late position, and saw Mukul Pahuja 3bet to 240K. Ludovic then min 4bet to 380K, at which point we saw Mukul slide what seems to be 600K, but Ludovic snap mucked his hand before the dealer got around to counting the bet.
