Play on this final day in the CPP MILLIONS Main Event has moved quickly as there have already been 3 eliminations in the first level of play.

Michael Malm (Photo from Day 4)

Michael Malm was out in 12th place as he got it in with pocket threes only to be facing the pocket Tens held by Jonas Gjelstad. We spoke with Michael immediately before the action began and he was optimistic, having started each day relatively short as well – but it wasn’t to be on this Day 5.

Ruben Perceval was the next to go in 11th place and he got it in good holding Ace of Diamonds King of Diamonds compared with Udo Erlei’s Ace of Clubs Queen of Clubs – but the flop moved things firmly in the opposite direction than Ruben wanted to go: Queen of Spades 9 of Clubs 5 of Clubs, putting Udo in front with a redraw to the nuts. Udo didn’t make his flush, but the top pair was good and no help arrived for Ruben.

Jason Koon also got it in with a small pair, and he too was behind Jonas Gjelstad and couldn’t improve.

All three players will take him $42,000 for their efforts in this tournament.

The three eliminations means that the final table has been reached, and play will resume once everyone has come together on a single table.

The Main Event in the CPP MILLIONS has come to a close with just 12 players remaining. Everyone left is guaranteed a minimum of $42,000 – but as heady as that payday would be, everyone is really gunning for the top prize – a cool $1,000,000!

The chip leader following Day 4 is Canada’s Sam Greenwood, followed closely by Norway’s Jonas Gjelstad. The field is full of landmines, however, and it’s going to take a full day of heavy-duty poker skill to navigate the way through all 11 other players for the one who will emerge as the champion.

Also in action on the final day will be two players we know very well at Playground Poker Club – Montreal’s Ruben Perceval and frequent big-event visitor Michael Malm. Ruben and Michael are starting with 13bb and 12bb respectively, but both of them have the skill and the experience to run that up – if they get a little luck as well.

Play resumes at 12:00pm local time, and players will return to 90-minute blind levels that will begin at 1.2M/2.4M/2.4M – when the first card is dealt, there will be 6 starting stacks on the table… every hand.

François Billard is known to everyone in the Montreal area as an extremely dangerous tournament player, and in this CPP MILLIONS Main Event, the rest of the world learned just how skilled he is. He has just been eliminated in 17th place for $34,000 after losing a classic flip to Felipe Ramos. Both players were playing similar 29M stacks.

With this elimination, the tournament has become a 2-table affair. You can follow the feature table via 30-min delayed Live Stream through Twitch or PokerNews.

18 left… 18 left…

2017/11/24 - 19:13 by

We were standing just outside the door of the huge tournament room when who should run by but Ruben Perceval, repeating the mantra “18 left, 18 left…” with a broad smile on his face. The smile was probably to do with the fact that he has a perfectly solid stack at the moment – around 74M or so.
