Play was hand-for-hand in Event 4, as the field had just dropped to it’s two final tables, and we were only one elimination away from being in the money when a very unique and statistically rare hand occurred.
Odette Temblay raised to 22,000 from middle position, and Rong Xu followed up with a 3bet to 52,000 from the button. Bo Yan Shi quickly 4bet his 284,000 stack from the big blind, and was snap called by both Odette and Rong.

Bo Yan couldn’t find help on a board showing , and went from being one of the chip leaders to out on the bubble! Odette started the hand with roughly 75,000 chips, and split the main pot with Rong, who collected the additional 200,000+ from the side pot.
Rong now leads the tournament with over 550,000 in chips.

Bo Yan Shi started the day with a decent stack (around 110K) but in the early going tonight he has taken a commanding lead over the rest of the field, having more than tripled his holdings to around 350K – which is at least 100K more than the player in 2nd place, Sean Windover.
The players’ first break of the day is coming in about 15 minutes – we’ll update the leaderboard at that time.

The pace of play upon the restart of Event 4 has been typically fast as during the first level tonight, 10 of the 40 remaining players were eliminated. There will be a full seating redraw with 27 players remaining, which we anticipate to come very early in the next level of play.
Here are some photos taken during level 17 tonight.

Day 2 of Event 4 in the Montréal Poker Expo will begin at 7pm tonight as players return to the felt to try for a piece of the massive $48,888 prize pool! There are 40 players left in the action and 17 places will pay, so the money bubble will approach very quickly to start the night.
There are several past Playground Event Champions still in the field, including (among others) Henri Balcazar, Felix Sides, David Ormsby, and Michael Korovine. But perhaps the player with the most to prove – and who has already shown great form during the Montréal Poker Expo – is Ruben Perceval. Ruben placed 12th in Event 1, and when he was finished last night he swallowed his disappointment, bought into Event 4… and proceeded to build up the 2nd strongest stack of the night!
Blind levels will be 30 minutes in length tonight and the action starts in level 17 (BB 5K, SB 2.5K, ante 500). Play will not conclude before there is a winner, so we could be in for a long night of poker. With the strong field remaining, it will definitely be a great night of poker!
