Here are some photos from the beginning of Day 1c. These are taken from just half of the Tournament Hall – we’ll cover the other half shortly.
Le dingue, not crazy at all
Philippe Boucher is a well-known professional player from Quebec who has long been known as Phil “Le Dingue” – which would be kind of like “Crazy Phil” in English.
Philippe just sent the following tweet this morning…
Playing day 1c @PlaygroundPoker today and it just started. I joined @REGcharity last month and I will be giving 2% to #charity #checkitout

Not “dingue” at all.
477 was the number
Days 1a and 1b of the Main Event brought in a total of 523 entries, which meant that another 477 entries were required to meet the prize pool guarantee of $1M. Well, the flight is almost through the first level to be played today and that number has already been surpassed as 486 players have taken their seats so far today.
And while an overlay and the added value it represents is great for players, passing the number of entries to hit a guarantee is even better, because every entry in the event after #477 grows the prize pool, which is obviously a great thing.
So Day 1c begins…
Day 1c of the Playground Poker Montreal Festival is underway and just since the update 20 minutes ago the number of entries has ballooned to 458 players who are seated around 47 tables from one end of the Tournament Hall to the other – and soon, up on the stage as well!
Good luck to everyone playing today!
A poker explosion!
Traditionally, the final starting flight of any multiple Day 1 tournament is the busiest, and often by a long way, but it’s still an amazing sight to behold when a room like the Tournament Hall at Playground Poker Club fills up with players, all of them with a single goal in sight: to take down the winner’s share of a $1 Million prize pool.
So far – with just 5 minutes to go before the flight begins today – there are 411 players who have bought in to today’s Day 1c. And although that’s a very strong number of entries, we’re still officially in overlay territory. So there’s still value being added to the tourney beyond what player buy-ins have contributed.
In other words – if you’re not here yet, Day 1c is busy but we still have room for you, so come on out to Playground and take your shot at a fantastic Guaranteed prize pool!
Main Event Day 1b final chip counts
Today’s second flight in the Main Event of the Playground Poker Montreal Festival had 305 entries, adding up to 523 total entries in the tournament so far with just Day 1c to go tomorrow. Of those who started, 69 players survived the 13 levels today to qualify for Day 2 on Monday, September 1st at 12pm.
