The field is down to the final 11 players in the 50/50 Bounty.

The event has taken on a far different tone than the early levels; with the average stack providing roughly 15 big blinds, the majority of the hands are being played out pre-flop. In many cases, it’s a short stack moving all-in and putting the decision making on the players in the blinds.

Robert Ouellette has reclaimed the chip lead in convincing fashion and is now playing a stack of roughly 900,000, comfortably ahead of his nearest rival. But with the big blind now costing as many chips as a starting stack, things can change quickly so it’s still anybody’s tournament.

There are only 19 players remaining out of the 195 entries in the 50/50 Bounty.

In predictable fashion, the play tightened up significantly over the course of the last level as the players fix their sights on the $4,570.00 first-place prize. The bounty chips offer significantly less enticement at this stage, and the mantra “tight is right” now takes precedence over bounty hunting.

Robert Ouellette has finally relinquished the chip lead to our new leader Serge Lapointe, who ran over his table during the last level to accumulate an imposing stack of 690,000 chips.

Here are the current chip leaders:

The money bubble has burst in the 50/50 Bounty.

In many tournaments, the money bubble often puts the brakes on the action when hand-for-hand play begins but not tonight. This event has been all about bounty hunting and the bubble passed virtually unnoticed, as many players left in the field have already broken even or turned a profit thanks to the $100.00 bounty chips they have accumulated along the way.

But now that the big money at the top of the prize list is on the horizon, expect the remaining players to change gears and grind it out to the end.

The field is down to 38 runners in the late stages of the 50/50 Bounty. The action has been fast and aggressive all night; the $100.00 bounty chips have been inducing action and generating huge pots.

Now that the prizes have come into sight-the top 25 will cash tonight-expect the action to slow slightly as the bounty chips have less relative value.

Here are the current chip leaders:

As the field shrinks in the 50/50 Bounty, the players show no signs of slowing down and are trying to get as many chips as possible out of every pot.

Mark Guerbilsky showed everyone at his table how it’s done when he managed to capture a bounty chip in a spot where few others would. With the blinds at 1,5K/3K, Guerbilsky was heads-up against Tam Ho when the flop fell Jack of Clubs 4 of Clubs 3 of Diamonds. Playing in flow, Guerbilsky checked to Ho who put out a bet of 8K. Guerbilsky then check-raised all-in and got a fairly quick call from Ho who had nearly 60K left behind. Guerbilsky tabled Queen of Spades Jack of Hearts and Ho opened Jack of Clubs 7 of Diamonds. The run out, 8 of Spades and 2 of Clubs, changed nothing and Guerbilsky added another bounty chip to his collection.

Robert Ouellette is runnning hot and scooping bounties at an incredible pace. Ouellette has held one of the larger stacks in the field since the early levels and he shows no signs of slowing down, if anything, he is still picking up steam.

As we entered the twelfth level of play tonight, Ouellette found himself involved in a dramatic 4-way all-in. Two players had moved all-in before the flop and were called by both Ouellette and his neighbour, who were both playing large stacks. When the flop fell King of Spades 4 of Clubs 10 of Hearts, Ouellete was the first to act and moved all in. His shove drew a quick call, creating another side pot, and hands were tabled. Ouellette held Ace of Diamonds King of Diamonds and was up against King of Clubs Jack of Hearts, 7 of Spades 9 of Hearts and Queen of Diamonds 10 of Diamonds. The turn and river, 5 of Clubs and 5 of Spades, offered no help for Ouellette’s opponents, letting him take down a six-figure pot and three bounty chips in the process.

One exasperated player who was eliminated in that hand couldn’t help but ask the question “how do you always have a hand?!” Ouellette smiled, turned his palms up and replied “it’s my night!”

Ouellette now holds a comfortable chip lead on the field, with a stack approaching 500K.
