    The Seven Survivors

    2018/03/26 - 19:20 by

After just over 6 hours of play, and with a hint of contention as players asked for – and others refused – deals at the final table, the 7 survivors have emerged in the March edition of the Playground Power Weekend’s Event #5. The tournament was a $70 + $10 NL Hold’em Survivor event that attracted 62 players and generated a prize pool of $4,210.00. This meant that everyone took home $601 for the efforts on the day.

Here are your final 7 survivors.

    Final table in the Survivor

    2018/03/26 - 18:50 by

The players have reached the 10-handed final table in the Survivor tournament, and there are just 3 eliminations until the tournament will have reached its conclusion!

    Just 16 remain

    2018/03/26 - 16:41 by

There are just 16 players remaining in the field of Event #5, and considering that the tournament will play down to 7 players, it’s definitely in its final phase.

Two players have managed to take a commanding lead to this point. Samuel Pouliot has stayed near the top of the list with 102,500 in his stack at the break, outclassed only by Jonathan Brown playing 113,500. The rest of the players have varying stacks – but few are large enough to give either player much pause before calling off, so everyone must play with caution.

Here are some photos taken during the last level.

    Leaders update in Event #5

The players in today’s Survivor tournament are on break, and we were able to take a survey of the remaining 3 tables to determine the current chip leaders.

The Survivor is down to 34 players as it wends its way to the top 10% – which is to say, 7 people remaining. This elimination by Samuel Pouliot is typical of the play in the past level or so as some stacks begin to really dwindle.

Raphael Breton St-Jean was 3rd to act preflop and raised all-in for 5,300 over an early limp. Action folded all tne way around to Pouliot, in the bb, who made the call. The player who limped from utg folded and the cards were turned on thier backs.

Raphael: Ace of Spades Jack of Hearts
Samuel: King of Diamonds 10 of Diamonds

The flop hit both players hard: Ace of Diamonds 5 of Clubs Jack of Diamonds – but Samuel was certainly happy to have gained a few more ways to pull out the win. The turn brought the first of them with the Queen of Clubs, and that was enough as a blank 2 of Spades came on the river.

Registration has closed in today’s Survivor event, and as suspected there were a flurry of registrations approaching the deadline. When the dust settled, 62 players joined the event and there are 50 left in the action in level 5. The 62 entries contributed to a prize pool of $4,210.00, meaning that each of the final 7 players will earn $601.00 today.
