The tournament is now down to 14 players of which the top 8 will be paid.  As expected, the short stacks have been shoving, some have been successful and are still alive, a few others have now exited the tournament room.  The mood has been casual yet at the same time focused as everyone wants a piece of the prize pool pie.

Although things got off to a slow start this afternoon, players arrived steadily until the end of the late registration period. Thanks, in part, to the 16 re-entries, the prize pool was able to surpass today’s guarantee. The top eight finishers will cash this event, but everyone is eyeing the first-place prize of $1,741.

The tournament registration is now closed, but there was time for 63 entries to make their way into the field, enough to bring the prize pool well beyond its guarantee.

At the first break, several players were able to collect enough chips to put them ahead of the pack, but they all trail our current chip leader, Charles Audet.

Arriving at table 32, with blinds of 200/400, action folded to Rene Simoneau on the button who shoved his short stack of 2100. Jean-Pascal Gauthier smooth called in the sb and so did Rene Dorelien in the bb.

The flop came and action went check-check. The dealer turned the , Jean-Paul check-called a bet of 400.  The board paired on the river with the , and again Jean-Pascal checked and Pierre made what looked like a value bet, throwing in a small bet of 400. Jean-Pascal called and the hands were tabled: Jean-Pascal had smooth called the short stack shove holding and Rene mucked.

There are now 54 entries and 39 are still in the running.  Players still have plenty of time to join the action, late registration continues until 2:15pm so if you were thinking of some Wednesday afternoon poker, there are open seats waiting for you
