Griffin Mason is a well-known local tournament player with obvious skills and a history of deep runs, but even a skilled player can’t overcome a glut of bad luck at the wrong time. He started the day relatively short-stacked and in early play managed to chip up quite a bit, but eventually lost a few hands in a row as the favourite and found himself short and in trouble.
He was playing on the button when he chose to open shove his final 600K in chips, only to get a quick call from Stephane Blouin-Verroeulst.

Griffin was looking good on the flop, and the turn was no bother – but the on the river was all Stephane needed to eliminate Griffin and get a needed stack-boost as well.
