The action has been non-stop for the last 30 minutes and there have been a few coolers happening, with players busting out along the way.  When there were only 13 players left, with only 12 players getting paid, the players asked the floor staff to pause the clock, so that they could discuss making a bubble deal. After a brief moment, all players agreed to remove $10 from each payout so that the bubble would receive $130, basically covering the cost of their tournament buy in.

Play is now 10 handed on the official final table.  Here is a list of who is in contention for the remaining prize pool and the $2,011 up top:

The players in today’s bounty tournament recently took another break and we surveyed the room to find the leaders – but found only one player whose stack is really worthy of making the leaderboard.

Jonathan English went to the break with 206,000 in chips – and he has chipped up since – which is over 70,000 ahead of the next player’s count. He also has accumulated a healthy stack of bounty chips… so he’s already ahead even before they get to the money.

The field is starting to thin out

Play has been steady over the last couple of levels, and as is to be expected, the shorter stacks are feeling some pressure. There have been some all-ins on each of the remaining 3 tables over the last few orbits.

On table 24, many of the players know each other and have been joking around, but, make no mistake, they all really want to knock each other out, hoping to collect more chips as well as another $25 bounty chip.

In the hand we just witnessed, action folded to David Cadoch on the button on seat 1, who limped in, and both the sb and bb chose as well to see a flop. The flop was: 3 of Diamonds 10 of Clubs 10 of Diamonds, and action checked around. The turn brought out the 8 of Clubs, and both blinds checked. David, threw in a T5,000 chip and both blinds folded.  David showed the 8 of Hearts, and, asked his opponents,”do you beat this?”, smiling as he pulled in the pot.

Moving on to table 28, Stephan Gelinas limped and action folded to David St-Louis on the button, who raised it up to 7,000, a seemingly standard late position play on the button in a limped pot. The flop was King of Hearts 4 of Clubs Ace of Clubs, and Stephan threw in his bounty chip and announced “all-in”. David snap called and instantly opened his hand, showing Ace of Hearts Ace of Spades, he had flopped top set.  Although Stephan tabled Ace of Diamonds 8 of Spades, he was  drawing dead against David’s top set. Stephan was covered and David picked up more chips and another bounty chip too.

The action continues, and players are having fun while trying to knock each other out, hoping to cash as many $25 bounty chips as possible.  Walking around the room, we had a chance to grab a few more photos.

The players in today’s bounty event are on their 1st break, and we have now had a chance to survey the stacks and see who might be leading the pack. Two players have amassed larger than average stacks are now the front runners in the field.

The tournament is now in level 5 and there are 66 players who have entered including 6 who have fired a 2nd bullet, so the tournament has now already surpassed the guaranteed $5,000.   There is still  another 45 minutes of late registration so it’s not too late to jump into the action.
