    Desbiens out in 7th place

    2019/02/25 - 1:41 by

Benoît Desbien saw his tournament come to an end when he went all in with Jack of Hearts Jack of Clubs. Unfortunately for him he came up against a brick wall in the form of Cedric Harnois, who was holding the Rockets Ace of Clubs Ace of Diamonds.

Benoît’s hopes were short lived when even his set on the flop was crushed with an over set by Cedric. Both players hit a boat on the turn, but it wasn’t enough for Benoît and he was sent to the rail in 7th position.

The board held no cracking power : Jack of Spades Ace of Spades 10 of Hearts 10 of Diamonds 8 of Diamonds

    7th place: Benoît Desbiens, $200

Manfred Gunther is having quite a run tonight. Chip leader for a while now, at one elimination from the final table, Manfred did not hesitate before calling Naveen Thorati’s all-in.

Naveen: 10 of Spades 10 of Diamonds

Manfred: King of Spades Queen of Spades

Board: 9 of Spades Queen of Clubs Jack of Clubs Ace of Spades Queen of Diamonds

So Naveen Thorati hits the rail in 10th place, and the setup begins for the final table.

The players took a break between levels 10 and 11. With the average stack around 75K we went looking for any stack above 150K. There are only 13 players left, and the final table is coming soon. The tournament had 8-handed action, so there will be a full redraw for the final table when he have 9 players left.

Manfred Gunther has taken a good lead and sits behind 232,000 chips. His closest rival is Anthony Dadamo, holding 165,600 chips. The two players are owners of the only 2 stacks above 150K for now.

The Short Deck action is wild and fast.

Jean-René Lafleur was all in holding Queen of Clubs 10 of Clubs against Andreas K who had more chips and had tabled Queen of Spades 9 of Diamonds .

The 10 of Hearts King of Spades Queen of Hearts flop was great news for Jean-René. Andreas needed a jack and he didn’t have to wait long when it showed up on the turn Jack of Hearts. Now hoping for a queen or a nine for a boat or even an ace for a split pot straight, Jean-René Lafleur was left wanting when the river came out 6 of Spades.

So Andreas K sent Jean-René Lafleur to the rail in 25th position.

Here are a few more photos of the players, from level 7

The players are on a break and we’ve checked out the stacks to bring you the first leaderboard of the tournament. This tournament is 8-handed and the chips seemed pretty evenly distributed between each table. The average is hovering at 32,000 chips, so we set the bar at minimum 50K to make the board.

Chip leader Nabil Nahoud has managed to bring in 127,800 chips in front of him. This puts him well in the lead and on the road to glory.

As the players retake their seats, the registration period closes, and the boards shows a total of 53 entries, including 12 re-entries.
