Sometimes you play well but you have no luck. Sometimes you get lucky but you have no skill.

Khanroy has been crushing due to both great skill and some run good. We just watched action fold to his button and he raised it up, and both blinds came along for the ride.

Flop: 3 of Clubs 10 of Hearts 4 of Spades

Anderson checked in the sb, as did Jonathan in the bb.  Khanroy didn’t slow down and fired out a bet of 25k.  Anderson folded and Jonathan called.

The turn was the 3 of Hearts.  Jonathan checked and this time Khanroy went all in. Jonathan tanked and had thought about it for a moment or so before releasing his cards. Khanroy just smiled and said “damn”, as he showed the table King of Hearts King of Spades and was looking for a call.

    Running good.

    Final table in the 6-max

Playground follows TDA rules and therefore a final table in a 6-max event is always played out 7-handed.

Here is the list of the final table players:

    • Anderson F.
    • Robert Gosselin
    • Jonathan Brown
    • Denis Roy
    • Khanroy Fernandez
    • Antoine Simon
    • Pierre Marquette (NB: as this post was being written up, Pierre busted in 7th place ($410)

The tournament is in the money!

    • Level: 16
    • Small Blind: 5K
    • Big Blind: 10k
    • BB Ante: 5K
    • Chip Average: 154.5

It took about 20 minutes of hand for hand play until the tournament finally hit the hand that would take the field into the money.

With blinds at 5K/10K, Dadwin Reye Hertbbe looked down at his hole cards and decided that it was time to finally get it all in. The player to his left folded, and the next player to act, Jonathan Brown, looked down at his hand and instantly announced “all in”. The other players got out of the way and the hands were tabled.

Dadwin: King of Diamonds Queen of Diamonds
Jonathan: Ace of Diamonds King of Spades

The dealer proceeded to put out the flop: 8 of Hearts 10 of Clubs Jack of Clubs, and Jonathan was still ahead, although as we all know, what is an all in on the bubble without a sweat? Dadwin flopped an open ended straight draw and although a Q would not be of any help to him, a 9 could save his day.

The turn was the 4 of Clubs, and the river also a brick, 3 of Diamonds.

And just like that, the bubble burst and all players are now assured of at least a min-cash of $180.

    Fernandez takes a commanding lead

There are many stacks hovering just above or below average, and one player has now taken the commanding lead.  Khanroy Fernandez is now sitting on 395,000, which is slightly more than double the 2nd place runner, Dave Bonneau, who is seated directly to his right.

We are now on the bubble and will shortly be in the money!

    Down to three tables

With only 15 players remaining, we are now down to only three tables. Play has been been pretty quiet over the last few levels.  As much as we have been trying to report on some exciting hands, the action has pretty much been: limp in, the blinds complete their option, and then it checks around, often on all three streets.  Otherwise we see one of the below average stacks shove, another player tank for only five seconds, and then a fold.  We will keep watching the tables and let you know if there are some big clashes that take place or some coolers.

Recent eliminations include Bill Kontaratos, Nick-Real Seide, Felix Miron, Joshua Brueckner, and Felix Miron.

    Chip leaders at 2nd break

We have seen a lot of players head to the rail since the last break, as we are now down to 27 players remaining, all playing for the $2,035 up top.  Here is a list of the top five stacks in play.

Notables still in the field include Nick Nickoletopoulos, Bill Kontaratos, Nick-Real Seide, Dave Bonneau, just to name a few.  Recent bust-outs include: Vladislav Gulii, Andre Perron, Normand Plessis Belair, Garret West, Rejean Grenier and Richard Sysko.
