After six full levels of play, four players have jumped ahead and have now taken the lead. With hours of poker still left to play, this can surely change as the day progresses, however, the top four will do what they can to try to maintain their lead.

Our current chip leader is Anderson F., who told me that he came into the tournament room feeling a bit stressed due to an early morning mishap, so he decided to first enjoy a bite to eat enjoying one of the daily specials offered by The Rail, Playground’s signature restaurant, before he entered the action, which helped him get rid of that stress and focus on his game. Robert Gosselin, who had busted out earlier in the day with AK, decided to re-enter and has worked his new stack into a top four stack to join the leaderboard.

Table 35 has seen a lots of action and a few bustouts already. As we arrived at the table, Robert Gosselin was all-in with AK against Dave Bonneau holding 4 of Diamonds 2 of Diamonds on a 5 of Spades 5 of Diamonds 6 of Diamonds flop.  Dave had a dream flop; a gutshot with a flush draw, with outs to the super nuts should the 3 of Diamonds come, which would give him a straight flush. The turn was 8 of Clubs for a brick, but Dave hit a pair on the river when the dealer opened the 2 of Hearts, and that was the end of Robert’s tournament life. Everyone loves seeing AK pre-flop, however when your opponent hits the board and you don’t, all you have is A high.

A few hands later on the same table, a cooler happened when Camille Jr Lefebvre Pelletier flopped a straight holding 9 of Spades 7 of Hearts on a 10 of Diamonds 8 of Diamonds Jack of Diamonds flop, but was out flopped by Rejean Grenier who shoved King of Diamonds 7 of Diamonds, having flopped the 2nd nut flush. Camille had snap called but of course he was drawing dead.

The room is filling up nicely and players are already into the action as there have now been 3 re-entries in the event.  We had a chance to walk around the room and grab a few photos of some of the players in the action.

Players often start playing tournaments on 10-handed tables. One of Playground’s most popular daily tournaments is the Monday night 6-max event, where the field is known to have some of the best of the best.  The tournament offers more aggressive action since the tables are all short handed, and, the utg player is also seated in the lowjack seat, so early position is also somewhat late position in this type of setup.

If you have never played 6-max before, Event #7 offers an affordable buyin of $100+$10, and just in case you run in to a cooler early on, well, you can re-enter and try again.

Welcome to Event #7, a 6-Max Re-entry event that is sure to bring some great poker action on a Monday afternoon.  There is a guaranteed prize pool of $5,000, players start with 20,000 chips, the blind levels are 20 minutes, and there is unlimited re-entry permitted right until the start of level 7, immediately following the 1st break.   Late registration is open until 2:15 PM so there is still plenty of time to come join the action.

Twenty-nine players are already in their seats and the TD has just announced, “dealers, shuffle-up and deal”, so, it’s game on!
