As we were going around the tables, we heard a player say: “I think I will raise… myself”. We went to investigate and found a peculiar setup. Dave Janneau-Cyr was sitting at table 36, alone. There were, however, 2 other live stacks on the table, so he was basically playing against none other than himself.
Pre-purchased stacks are “live” on the table from the beginning of the tournament. Late registrants (anyone who registers after the tournament has started), as well as alternates, will have a full stack that will be activated only once they arrive at their seats.
This was clearly the case on table 36. As always, a table gets underway as soon as there are half the total of players present. So in this case, the tournament being a 6-handed affair, the dealer started dealing as soon as 3 stacks were “live”, this included the 2 absent players and Dave. But no worries, this only lasted a few minutes, but everyone seated around that table got a good chuckle out of the situation.
