In any large field – and 274 players to start a Day 2 definitely qualifies – there are certain to be some interesting anecdotes and tidbits of information about the field.
Some of the interesting anecdotes about the remaining players:
- There is one father-son group left in the action. Peter Johnson and his son Peter Johnson are regular visitors to Playground, and both are experienced poker players. Usually, however, when one of the pair does well, the other doesn’t succeed, and vice-versa. They’re both in the field tonight!
- A frequent big-event player and something of a local star is Carla Sabini, who is most famous for running deep in the EPT London Main Event a couple of years ago – and using her winnings to buy directly into the High Roller event – which she final tabled! Unfortunately, Carla hasn’t had that much success here in the past – but she qualified for Day 2 with one of the top stacks, and she’s hoping the monkey is off her back!
- Prince Poker, an important locally-run poker news site (and more) has had a promotion called “L’équipe de rève PartyPoker-WPT” and a part of this is a last-longer between players in The Wild $150, with the winner receiving an entry in the partypoker.net WPT Canadian Spring Championship. There are just 3 players left in the running: Alan Yi Fan Dong, Jean-Luc Gauthier, and Frédéric Desjardins. As they say in French: à suivre!
- The chip leader to start the day, Isham Yamani, has been on an amazing run in these multi-day $150 tourneys. He was among the Day 2 chip leaders in the same event during the Playground Winter Festival and has final tabled the event in the past.
- There’s a husband-wife team left in the event as well. Rick Shamshoum and his wife Tina both started the day. Tina starts a little short-stacked, but she’s an experienced player, so… anything could happen…
