Last 2 levels of the night

Only 2 levels remain to this Day 2 of The Wild $150, and the 1,188 starting field has been shrunk to its final 5 tables. Upon the completion of these two levels, the tournament will go on break until tomorrow, where the remaining players will play down to a winner.

After peeking over the shoulders of the players, we concluded that Rick Shamshoum (~1,550,000) is currently in the lead, followed closely by Said Michailidis (~1,450,000), Isham Yamani (~1,425,000), Kathy Sawers (~1,400,000), Randy Khalil (1,250,000), Christien Beaudoin (~1,175,000) and Marie Tran (~1,100,000).

Day 3 is scheduled at 7pm tomorrow, Thursday April 23rd.

Players are about to go on their last break of the night, and when they return, they will have 4 more 30-minutes levels to go before bagging for Day 3. In these last few levels, we’ve seen some huge stacks emerge, and we have a few players in the 7-digits, including Kathy Sawers, Said Michailidis and Rick Shamshoum. We will be doing some chips counts during this break, stay tuned for an update on the leaderboard!

    Post-bubble update

As is often the case, we’ve seen a number of quick eliminations following the money-bubble, as play tends to open up now that players know they are guaranteed at least a min-cash. Rick Shamshoum (~1,250,000) is still sitting in the chip lead, and is the only player holding a stack over the 1 million mark.

We lost Alan Yifan Dong in 87th place, however that cash was worth a lot more for him than the $350 cash-prize he received, as he outlasted the other players participating in Prince Poker’s “Équipe de rêve PartyPoker-WPT”, earning himself a WPT Canadian Spring Championship Main Event ticket worth $3500! He was ‘heads-up’ versus Frederick Desjardins, who also made the money, but placed 98th.

Congratulations, and see you at the Main Event Alan!

Other notable eliminations include former chip-leader Christopher Tavares, Carla Sabini, Michael Malm, amongst others.

“Congratulations, you are all in the money!”

These were the words spoken by our TD just moments ago, announcing to the field that the remaining 117 players are now in the money! Well, all but Micheline Roberge, who placed in 118th place in The Wild $150, missing the money by just one spot. It only took two hands of hand-for-hand play before she found her all her chips in the middle on the losing end of a race. Now that this milestone is behind us, we can expect to see the action pick up a little, as many players fell short-stacked while trying to secure a spot in the money.

Congratulations to the players who have earned a cash prize in this opening event of the Playground Poker Spring Classic!

Earlier tonight, here on the blog we focused on a couple of interesting tidbits as play began. We just updated the status of the last longer in play, and now the rest of the stories:

    • The elder Peter Johnson is out of the tournament, but the younger Peter Johnson is still in, and has a healthy stack on an active table.
    • Carla Sabini made an appearance on our recent leaderboard and has chipped up further to about 290K.
    • Isham also continues to do well, and now has approximately 320K.
    • Rick Shamshoum also made an appearance on the leaderboard, and looks to be playing about 400K at this time. Tina, although she started with a relatively short stack, continues to grind and has built up a stack of around 100K.

As part of their “Équipe de rêve PartyPoker-WPT” promotion, Prince Poker is giving away a seat to the WPT Canadian Spring Championship Main Event to the winner of the last longer they set-up for The Wild $150. Three players still remain, with Alan Yifan Dong (~380,000) far ahead of Frederick Desjardins (~92,000) and Jean-Luc Gauthier (~37,500). Stay tuned to find out who will be the winner!

    Good luck to you gentlemen!

    Level 17

After a number of early eliminations, action has slowed down a little in this Day 2, as the average stack has deepened. The money bubble is slowly approaching, as we are around 50 eliminations away. There will be a short break after level 18, during which we will update the leaderboard.
