As predicted, things have moved very quickly to start the day. In the first hand played we caught one elimination and one double up.

Levon Dedeyan was eliminated from the bb after calling Logan Dunn’s all in bet from utg. Ivan Mamuzic tanked for a while before folding – but he found the fold and Levon called off the rest of his chips with a weak Ace compared with Logan’s KQoff. Logan outdrew Levon on the flop and his pair held up to eliminate the local player.

One table over, Vlad Faubert went all in from middle position for just under 50K and Guillaume “GRiver” Rivet called from the big blind. Both players had strong hands. Vlad held Ace of Spades Ace of Hearts and Guillaume was a the underdog with Queen of Clubs Queen of Spades. Vlad’s Aces held up for the double through GRiver on the 3 of Diamonds Jack of Spades 8 of Spades 8 of Hearts 4 of Diamonds board.

    UPDATE:

Vlad’s double still left him short and he was eliminated shortly following to exit in 43rd place.

The remaining 45 players in the partypoker.net WPT Canadian Spring Championship are making their way into the Tournament Hall, ready to resume action in this $3,200 + $300 WPT Tour event. Last night’s last elimination was also the player on the bubble, so everyone starting today is officially “in the money”!

Ari Engel is the big chip leader at this stage in the event, with a 200,000 chip cushion between he and Trevor Delaney in 2nd place.

There are also 6 players starting today with under 70,000 in chips – which is to say, less than 10 BB – so action should be hot right off the bat.

Play will continue today for 4 90-minute levels today. Good luck to all who remain in the event!

In the money; Day 2 is a wrap

    Jeff Gross

On the 10th hand of hand-for-hand, we saw Daniel Leduc 4bet shove his remaining 56,500 after an open from Sheraz Nasir from under the gun, and a 3bet from Trevor Delaney in early position. Sheraz folded his hand, later showing AK, and Trevor made the call for a few thousand more.

Daniel turned over King of Hearts King of Spades, and was far ahead of Trevor’s Ace of Clubs Jack of Clubs, especially with an ace being folded by Sheraz. The window card however was an ace, but in the same time Daniel spiked the case king on the Ace of Diamonds King of Hearts Queen of Hearts flop to stay ahead in the hand. The turn 9 of Diamonds changed nothing, however the river brought the 10 of Clubs, giving Trevor a straight, and in the process eliminating Daniel on the bubble.

There was only 5 minutes left to the last level of the day, and so after this hand, the TD called for the last 3 hands of play for Day 2. Players are now bagging and tagging their chips onto Day 3, which will be played out at 12pm tomorrow, May 4th. Alan ‘Ari’ Engel was the only player to bag over 1 million in chips, and is returning to Day 3 as the chip leader with 1,014,000. Trevor Delaney bagged 804,000, good for second in chips, while the rest of the field falls below the 600,000 mark.

We will be publishing the full list of player reported chip counts shortly, as well as the official seating assignments for Day 3.
