    Racine out on the bubble

After 20 hands of hand-for-hand play, Olivier Racine has been eliminated in 14th place, and consequently the rest of the players are in the money.

Olivier’s stack had been severely depleted by the time his final hand came along, but even though he was playing no more than a 3 big blind stack, he managed to fold both his big and small blinds. On the button, however, he held Ace of Hearts 6 of Hearts – enough to get it in.

Mike Fraser – who no longer has a dominant stack in the tourney – found a call from the big blind, but was holding just 4 of Spades 9 of Diamonds.

The flop was Queen of Clubs 10 of Hearts 7 of Diamonds – there was not much for anyone in it, and Ace-high probably seemed pretty safe, considering the circumstances. The turn, however, was a Jack of Spades and suddenly Mike was open-ended. The 8 of Diamonds on the river sealed the deal, and Olivier was eliminated.

Tournament staff just removed the black T100 chips from play and during the break we updated the counts of the large stacks. We found just three players with stacks of around double the chip average:

    1. Alexandre Fortin – 255K
    2. Mike Fraser – 215K
    3. Dustin Melanson – 200K

There are quite a few short stacks around the tables at this point, so the tournament will in all likelihood get a little deeper than it is right now as these shorties either double or are eliminated.

The first leaderboard of the event is pretty short – just one player has managed to build up a stack that clearly puts him in the lead in the tournament. In addition there are several players in the 38K to 46K range, which will give these players a good platform to build as the tournament continues.

    1. Julio Cacoilo – 73K

Players will be back from their first break of the day in just 2 minutes and at that time we’ll have an update of the final registration number and shortly thereafter we’ll publish the prize pool.
