Joe Gualtieri is a regular player in big events here at Playground Poker Club but this has been by far his deepest run in a big tournament. He leaves in 8th place after a 3-way all-in pot between he, Alex Fortin Demers, and Joshua Keith Tucker.

Alex was down to 32K after doubling up Philippe Belley 2 hands previous, and he shipped from UTG. Joe quickly went all in over the top, and it folded around to Tucker in the big blind, who called Joe’s all-in raise.

Alex: Ace of Hearts King of Spades
Joe: 9 of Hearts 9 of Clubs
Tucker: Ace of Diamonds 3 of Diamonds

The flop hit Alex and Joe right away: Ace of Hearts 8 of Spades 6 of Hearts and they both faded Joe’s outs when the Jack of Hearts 10 of Diamonds came on the turn and river.

Alex won the main pot with his King kicker but Tucker won the much larger side pot and Joe was eliminated.

    8th place: Joe Gualtieri, $5,930.00

Kane Kalas opened to 50,000 from the cutoff, but then threw his hand into the muck once he saw Michael Wang (button) and Joshua Keith Tucker (small blind) both move in their stacks afterwards.

Michael: 10 of Spades 10 of Clubs

Joshua: Jack of Spades Jack of Clubs

Community cards: 8 of Spades Queen of Diamonds Queen of Clubs Ace of Spades 5 of Spades

Michael slid the 474,000 he owed after losing the hand, leaving him with a little under 300,000.

Philippe Belley has some new ammunition in the tournament as he has just doubled through Alexander James Allison. Alexander open raised all-in from the small blind and to his surprise Philippe called with his smaller stack.

Philippe: Ace of Spades King of Clubs
Alexander: King of Spades Queen of Diamonds

Philippe hit his Ace on the 9 of Spades 2 of Spades Ace of Clubs flop and didn’t lose his lead through the 5 of Diamonds 3 of Spades turn and river. He’s now playing approximately 325K in chips.

Andrew Graham (left) versus Kane Kalas (right)

Andrew Graham put Kane Kalas to the test, as he moved in from the small blind in an unopened pot. Kane, sitting on 240,000, made the call from the big blind, and they were heads-up in the hnd.

Andrew: King of Spades 2 of Spades

Kane: King of Diamonds Jack of Hearts

Kane ran the nuts on the Ace of Diamonds 7 of Clubs Queen of Diamonds 6 of Diamonds 10 of Diamonds board to double himself back near the average.

Peter: Queen of Clubs 9 of Clubs

The community cards were no help to Peter – 3 of Diamonds Ace of Hearts 10 of Spades 5 of Hearts 2 of Clubs and he was eliminated from the event.

Philippe Belley opened to 25,000 from middle position, and was quickly followed by an all-in from Daniel Leduc, two spots down. The rest of the table got out of the way, and Philippe announced the call.

Philippe: Queen of Clubs Queen of Hearts

Daniel: Jack of Hearts Jack of Diamonds

Daniel was drawing-dead by the turn, as the dealer rung out a board of 8 of Hearts 4 of Spades King of Clubs Queen of Diamonds 5 of Clubs, and he saw 264,000 of his chips get send over to Philippe, leaving him with only 22,000 behind. He was eliminated on the very next hand.

    Graham’s on a rampage

    2015/04/30 - 16:02 by

Andrew Graham has eliminated Jonathan Duhamel in 12th place in Event 7. Jonathan’s stack had gone down to 91K recently but he had added a few chips to the point where he was holding 149K. He was holding Jack of Hearts 10 of Hearts in the small blind when Andrew open-shoved from the button – holding Queen of Diamonds Jack of Spades. Jonathan called and the cards were turned over. The board of Jack of Clubs Ace of Spades 9 of Clubs Queen of Spades 3 of Diamonds spelled the end of the tournament for Jonathan.

Just two hands later, Greg Katayama went all-in for his last approximately 340K and Andrew found the call holding 5 of Clubs 5 of Spades. Greg was playing Ace of Hearts King of Hearts and looked good for the double-up as the flop was dealt: 7 of Diamonds King of Diamonds 6 of Clubs. The turn was safe as well: 10 of Diamonds. The river 5 of Hearts however sent Greg to the rail as well.

The tournament has now reached the final table with 10 players remaining. Full chip counts and the seating draw info coming in just a minute…
