The Champion: Sheraz Nasir!

2015/05/06 - 19:41 by

The Champion: Sheraz Nasir!

The blind levels had reduced to 30 minutes heads up as per the published event rules, and during the 3rd level of heads up play, Lu’s stack had dwindled to as low as 13 bb.

In the ultimate hand of the event, Lu opened preflop to 525K and Sheraz called. The flop was dealt: Jack of Diamonds 6 of Spades 3 of Spades. Sheraz checked and Lu checked behind. The turn was the 6 of Hearts. Sheraz led out with a 500K bet, and Lu responded by going all in for her last 1,750,000 chips… Sheraz made a quick call.

Lu: Ace of Spades 2 of Diamonds
Sheraz: 2 of Spades 2 of Diamonds

The river was a 7 of Diamonds – and Sheraz’s 2 pair were good! Sheraz Nasir is the champion of the partypoker.net WPT Canadian Spring Championship for 2015!

Sheraz won $237,390.00 PLUS a WPT World Championship entry (worth US$15,400), and the exclusive Playground Champion’s Belt! In addition, his name will be inscribed for all time on the WPT Champion’s Trophy.

For her runner up finish, Lu “Chanel” Zhang wins $166,402.00.

Congratulations to both Sheraz and Lu on their results today!

    Event 12 Champion: Alexandre Nadeau-Levesque

Somewhere near the middle of this final table, Alexandre Nadeau-Levesque went on a heater, and never looked back. Combine this with his good decision making and excellent reads, and it is no doubt that he was the last man standing in this ‘Shootout” event!

In the last hand of play versus heads-up adversary Robert Notkin, who won last year’s Canada Cup Main Event for $366,660, Alexandre opened from the small blind to 65,000, and was followed by a call from Robert. On a flop of 6 of Spades 7 of Clubs 10 of Hearts, Robert check-shoved his ~300,000 stack, which Alexandre called off.

Holding 5 of Diamonds 8 of Diamonds, Robert needed some help to survive versus the Ace of Spades 7 of Diamonds of Alexandre, however the running 5 of Clubs 3 of Diamonds was not enough to double him up, and he was eliminated in the process. With that win, Alexandre pocketed $3,340, as well as a Playground Poker Spring Classic bracelet!

    Congratulations!

Molson is making a game of it

    2015/05/03 - 14:02 by

After an early double-up at the expense of Kane Kalas, Will Molson continues to chip up and is now sitting on a stack north of 85,000. He started the day with just 14K!

    Event 11 Champion: Johnson Bui!

    Event 11 Champion: Johnson Bui

Everything seemed to have fallen into place tonight for Johnson Bui, as he entered this final table a little below the average, but consistently increased his stack as the tournament progressed. When play fell 3-handed, he was in the chip lead over opponents David Dusome and Peter Katsoulis.

In the final hand of the tournament, Johnson found himself the favourite in a three-way all-in, as he tabled a pair of King of Spades King of Hearts, and only had a few cards to fade to overcome the 8 of Diamonds 8 of Spades of David and the 9 of Clubs 9 of Diamonds of Peter. If this wasn’t enough, he even flopped a set of kings on the Ace of Clubs King of Diamonds 6 of Hearts Jack of Hearts 9 of Hearts board to seal the deal, and take home the bracelet! He was also credited with a $6,000 cash prize for his win, while runner-up Peter took home $4,412, and third place finisher David pocketed $3,300.

    Congratulations!

    Dinner break promotions with partypoker.net

    Dinner break promotions with partypoker.net

While players of the WPT Canadian Spring Championship were on dinner break, partypoker.net had an exciting surprise organized in honour of the Mayweather vs Pacquiao match tonight, as they brought some oversized boxing gloves and matched up some of the players from the field against each other! We saw Maximilian Droeger, Marvin Rettenmaier, Maxime Swennen and Gary Josefczyk take turns against each other. Once the players were done battling it out, some of the Royal Flush girls couldn’t help themselves but jump in and throw some swings at each other as well!

At the end of the dinner break, partypoker.net also announced the current chip leader of Day 1B, and it was Dave Graham and his 127,000 in chips who claimed this title, earning himself a pair of partypoker.net Monster DNA headphones! Congratulations!
