One double, one elimination
As predicted, things have moved very quickly to start the day. In the first hand played we caught one elimination and one double up.
Levon Dedeyan was eliminated from the bb after calling Logan Dunn’s all in bet from utg. Ivan Mamuzic tanked for a while before folding – but he found the fold and Levon called off the rest of his chips with a weak Ace compared with Logan’s KQoff. Logan outdrew Levon on the flop and his pair held up to eliminate the local player.
One table over, Vlad Faubert went all in from middle position for just under 50K and Guillaume “GRiver” Rivet called from the big blind. Both players had strong hands. Vlad held
and Guillaume was a the underdog with
. Vlad’s Aces held up for the double through GRiver on the
board.
UPDATE:
Vlad’s double still left him short and he was eliminated shortly following to exit in 43rd place.
Day 3 starts in 5 minutes
The remaining 45 players in the partypoker.net WPT Canadian Spring Championship are making their way into the Tournament Hall, ready to resume action in this $3,200 + $300 WPT Tour event. Last night’s last elimination was also the player on the bubble, so everyone starting today is officially “in the money”!
Ari Engel is the big chip leader at this stage in the event, with a 200,000 chip cushion between he and Trevor Delaney in 2nd place.
There are also 6 players starting today with under 70,000 in chips – which is to say, less than 10 BB – so action should be hot right off the bat.
Play will continue today for 4 90-minute levels today. Good luck to all who remain in the event!
Event 12 Champion: Alexandre Nadeau-Levesque
Somewhere near the middle of this final table, Alexandre Nadeau-Levesque went on a heater, and never looked back. Combine this with his good decision making and excellent reads, and it is no doubt that he was the last man standing in this ‘Shootout” event!
In the last hand of play versus heads-up adversary Robert Notkin, who won last year’s Canada Cup Main Event for $366,660, Alexandre opened from the small blind to 65,000, and was followed by a call from Robert. On a flop of
, Robert check-shoved his ~300,000 stack, which Alexandre called off.
Holding
, Robert needed some help to survive versus the
of Alexandre, however the running
was not enough to double him up, and he was eliminated in the process. With that win, Alexandre pocketed $3,340, as well as a Playground Poker Spring Classic bracelet!
Congratulations!

After having busted David Dusome in 4th palce just moments ago with KK, Alexandre was dealt the same premium once again! This time it was even more of a cooler, as chips went in on a flop where both he and Bill Kontaratos flopped a set!
