Event 12 is just about ready to commence here at the Playground Poker Spring Classic, and as this tournament follows a ‘Shootout’ formula, players will have to win their table in Round 1 in order to move on to Round 2, which will be the final table. The tournament is capped at 100 entries, although there is still room to register. Late registration will be available until the end of the first break (roughly 7:30pm), or until the tournament sells out, however all stacks will be live from the start of the tournament, and blinded out accordingly.

Good luck to all the players in this event!

We arrived at the table on the turn with the following community cards showing: Jack of Clubs Ace of Clubs Queen of Diamonds Ace of Hearts. Diana Shamshoum checked to Francois Billard who laid out a substantial bet of around 45K – only to have Diana min-raise. Francois called. The King of Diamonds came on the river and Diana assessed how many chips Francois had behind – and then bet all in. Francois had just about 45K behind and he was covered. He went in the tank for a good 2 minutes before he folded – and Diana flipped over 5 of Clubs 9 of Clubs for a missed flush draw turned into a huge bluff.

Diana is now up past 250K in chips.

    Shootout tonight, 6pm

    2015/05/03 - 14:42 by

Tonight’s event – the $135 + $15 NL Hold’em Shootout – has become one of the most popular events among all of the side events we offer. The shootout format is slightly different than a normal poker tournament. Each player will start on a table and must WIN that table to move on in the tournament. In a way, a shootout tournament is among the “purest” of tournament forms – you have to be successful in a full ring format and then, as players are eliminated, you have to be pretty good at shorthanded poker as well, until finally you are heads-up against your opponent – another distinct test of poker skills.

The action gets underway at 6pm – and be sure to register early, because these events have often sold out in the past.

Omkar Deshmukh (button) open-raised playing a short stack, and Charles Le Boissoniere re-raised all in from the small blind. The big blind got out of the way and the button snap called and flipped over King of Spades King of Diamonds. Charles held 3 of Spades 3 of Clubs.

The flop was safe enough: 2 of Spades 2 of Clubs 9 of Hearts but the turn brought a 3 of Hearts and the end of the tournament for Omkar as the river 8 of Clubs was dealt.
