Dinner break promotions with partypoker.net
While players of the WPT Canadian Spring Championship were on dinner break, partypoker.net had an exciting surprise organized in honour of the Mayweather vs Pacquiao match tonight, as they brought some oversized boxing gloves and matched up some of the players from the field against each other! We saw Maximilian Droeger, Marvin Rettenmaier, Maxime Swennen and Gary Josefczyk take turns against each other. Once the players were done battling it out, some of the Royal Flush girls couldn’t help themselves but jump in and throw some swings at each other as well!
At the end of the dinner break, partypoker.net also announced the current chip leader of Day 1B, and it was Dave Graham and his 127,000 in chips who claimed this title, earning himself a pair of partypoker.net Monster DNA headphones! Congratulations!
Leaders at dinner (plus other notable counts)
Play in the second starting flight of the partypoker.net WPT Canadian Spring Championship has just resumed following the 45-minute dinner break, during which players enjoyed hot and cold buffet dishes and took a few minutes to unwind before the last 4 levels tonight.
During the extended break we got some counts from around the room.

Dinner approaches
There are just 15 minutes remaining in level 6, and following this level the players will be on a 45-minute dinner break. There is a tasty buffet provided for all players, and during the break, there’s something very special going to be happening over the the partypoker.net Player’s Lounge… think “Rock’em Sock’em” as opposed to the “Hold’em” everyone is playing all day!
After the dinner break we’ll announce the winner of the partypoker-branded Monster DNA headphones, and that will also signal the end of late registration in the event.
No one rocketing ahead
Players are just back from their second break of the day, and so far no one has really strapped on the turbo-booster and taken a big lead in this starting flight. There are 3 players who have passed the 80K threshold, and we’ll see if there are any big movers between now and the dinner break in just under 2 hours.
- Kyle Chang – 94K
- Senthuran Vijayaratnam – 85K
- Kevin K Singh – 83K
Win a pair of partypoker.net Monster DNA headphones!
A reminder to all of the players in Day 1b: if you’re the chip leader at the dinner break (after level 6), you’ll win a pair of Partypoker-branded Monster DNA headphones (courtesy of partypoker.net)! It took yesterday’s winner over 140K in chips to gain the prize – how big a stack will it take tonight?
Leaders at the first break
Players have just returned from their first break of the day (following level 2) and during the break we were able to find some of the front-runners early in today’s Day 1b flight. Interestingly, the players with the top two chip stacks at this early point in the tourney are sitting side-by-side on Table 63.
- Steven Joudry – 70K
- Josue Sauvageau – 66K
- Bryan Springer – 61K
- Danny Boyaci – 60K

Shuffle up and Deal!
The introductory announcements have been made and Mike Sexton has given the dealers the command to “Shuffle up and Deal” and so Day 1b has begun! There are currently 144 players seated in the event, a number that will grow through the 6 levels of late registration (plus the 45-minute dinner break following level 6).
To be precise, players have until 6:15pm to jump in the event. Late registrants start with a full stack of 30,000 tournament chips!
Welcome to Day 1b!
The dealers have taken their places and the players are starting to arrive in the Tournament Hall for Day 1b of the partypoker.net WPT Canadian Spring Championship. This is the second of two starting flights in this WPT Tour event, the kickoff event for Season XIV on the World Poker Tour.
As usual, as this is the final starting day, participation should be very strong today. Players who busted yesterday have the opportunity to re-enter the tournament in Day 1b. In addition, most satellite winners choose to play in the final starting day, which adds up to what is sure to be an interesting and action-packed day of poker.
There were 136 entries in yesterday’s Day 1a, and of that number just 50 players have qualified for Day 2, tomorrow. The chip leader yesterday was Mike Leah, who bagged up over 265K in chips. Also in the top 5 were Pascal Lefrancois, who has had some big scores in the past here at Playground Poker Club, and Ratharam Sivagnanam (aka WrathofRam), who was the runner up in last fall’s WPT Montreal.
Action gets underway in just over 10 minutes – good luck to all the players today!
Day 1a – final chip counts
Here are the final chip counts for Day 1A of the partypoker.net WPT Canadian Spring Championship, Event 10 of the Playground Poker Spring Classic. There were a total of 136 entrants in this starting flight of the event. 50 players have qualified for Day 2, which will start on Sunday, May 3rd at 12pm.
Any player may play in an additional starting flight. In the event that a player qualifies in two Day 1s, only their largest stack will move forward to Day 2. We will provide detailed records of any such activity when the official seating chart for Day 2 is released.
Note that these are unverified player-counted chip counts. All chips have been sealed in bags until they return to play on Day 2. Click (or tap) on any column heading to sort the table.
