Faubert out 28th
Vlad Faubert was also short-stacked coming into the day, and he got it in holding
but was instantly called by Gregory Katayama holding
.
The board ran out
to let Gregory fade Vlad’s outs and stack the chips.
The redraw at 27 players is happening now – we’ll have an updated seating chart shortly.
Cards are in the air; Braga out
Tournament staff gave the command to the dealers to “Shuffle up and deal” and almost immediately Patrick Braga was eliminated from the event. He arrived to Day 2 with the 2nd shortest stack in the tournament and was unable to make the quick double up he needed to make a run in the event.
There will be a seating redraw following the next elimination.
Day 2 of the Warm-up is all set
There are 29 players left in the $1000 + $100 WPT Warm-up, which is Event 7 in the Playground Poker Spring Classic presented by partypoker.net. The players are starting to arrive in the Tournament Hall to play down to the Champion, and in about 10 minutes the tournament will resume.
It’s sure to start with a bang, because right off the bat today the players are hard up against the money bubble. 24 places will pay in this event, so just 5 eliminations will get us to the bubble. In addition, there’s a redraw scheduled for 27 players remaining (when players will fill 3 9-handed tables), so a player not comfortable with his Day 2 draw can – in theory – wait for a better result after just 2 eliminations!
The event still has some international stars of the game participating – in particular Jonathan Duhamel and Griffin Benger, both of whom start the day with relatively healthy stacks. In addition to them there are some players who have had a lot of past success here at Playground Poker Club over the years (Ami Alibay, Andrew Graham). But the field is strong from top to bottom – it’s completely reasonable to think that any one of the remaining 29 players could emerge as the Champion!
Good luck to all!
