Registration is climbing
Players are joining Event 5 at an even faster rate than anticipated – since the last update, 30 more people have already jumped in, and level 2 in the tournament has just begun.
We’ll shoot a round of photos shortly, but there are some notable players in the field such as hockey legend Guy Carbonneau as well as local poker notables like Philippe Plouffe, Patrick Braga, and Marco Caza.
The $550 Freeze is underway
Players have assembled around their tables to begin play in Event 5 of the Playground Poker Spring Classic presented by partypoker.net. Event 5 is the first of the larger buy-in events in this year’s Spring Classic, and judging informally by the number of “bigger” players that have started to make their appearance at the club in the last day or so, it should end up attracting a nice field.
Blind levels in this freezeout event are 30 minutes and players begin with 20K in tournament chips. You can download a PDF with full details about the rules and structure for this event from our Tournament Details page.
Late registration is available for 4 levels (plus the break following level 4) – which means you can join the tournament until 1:15pm. Knowing poker players – and being poker players ourselves – we expect a steady stream of entries right up until the last possible second!
Good luck to everyone today!
Event 3 – Results & Payouts
The $250 Frenzy was Event 3 of the Playground Poker Spring Classic presented by partypoker.net. It was a $225 + $25 NL Hold’em Re-entry tournament with 6 Day 1s that were held between April 24th and April 26th, 2015. Days 2-3 were played on April 27th and 28th. When the number of entries for all 6 starting days were tallied, there were a total of 1,076 entries in the event, which generated a prize pool of $234,837.00. The prize pool was distributed according to the following table.
Note there was a player deal made at two players remaining. The players reserved $5,000 and the bracelet for the winner and divided the remaining prize pool evenly ($34,133.00). The final payout table reflects this player arrangement.

Last two levels of the night
Action has been fast and furious here in these past two levels of The $250 Frenzy, partly due to the “make it or break it” stage of the tournament, but also partly due to the combinations of hands that have been coming out. It’s been premium versus premium everytime we peak at the action on a table!
Level 25 has just begun, which means Day 2 will be over in under an hour. The remaining players will return tomorrow to crown a champion.

Event 4 – Results & Payouts
Event 4 of the Playground Poker Spring Classic presented by partypoker.net was a $100 + $10 NL Hold’em Deepstack Turbo tournament. The tournament began on April 27, 2015 at 12pm and was a one-day event. There were a total of 136 players in the event, which added up to a prize pool of $13,192.00. This will be distributed according to the following table.
Note there was a player deal reached with 15 players remaining. The players agreed to a simple “bubble save” by taking $182 from the published 1st place prize and attributed it to the player to exit in 15th place. There was another player deal at 2 players remaining. The players agreed to reserve $396 and the bracelet for the winner and divide the remaining prize pool evenly between them.

Level 22 update
Level 22 has just begun here in Day 2 of The $250 Frenzy, and the field has been reduced down to 8 tables. Players will be going on a short break following this level, during which we will bring you some chip counts of the top stacks. For the time being, it seems to still be Randy Khalil who is in the chiplead, sitting on roughly 850,000. Daniel Boisvert is right on his tail though, as his stack has just recently crossed the 800,000 mark as well.
After the break, play will continue for 4 more levels before the remainder of the field bag their chips onto Day 3, scheduled tomorrow at 7pm.
