A few more shots of Day 1c
Here are a few more shots of the action in Day 1c of The $250 Frenzy.

New Leaderboard
Players are taking their second break of the day – when they return they will be playing in level 10 with blinds of 500/1000/a100. There are 86 players left at the tables with 6 full levels yet to be played in this starting flight of Event 3.
During the break we put together an updated leaderboard at this point in the tournament.
- David Skitt – 125K
- Richard Figiel – 121K
- Hugo Dumoulin – 97K
- James Slotegraaf – 96K
- Scott Crane – 88K
- Tianshin Liu – 85K
- Richard Hardy – 84K
A table with a little “extra”
There are solid and experienced players all over the place in today’s flight of The $250 Frenzy, but one table in particular seems to have a slight overload of players who have had success in the past in events at Playground Poker Club.
Table 64’s current roster starts with Chris McClung, better known as D0r1t0s, who is a Players Club member with over $600K in lifetime live earnings and a lot more than that online. His most recent big score was a victory in a 6-Max side event at the PCA. Seated with McClung, are these other players of note:
- Rodney Ramalho – scored a 6th place finish in the recent $1.1K Main Event in the Playground Winter Festival.
- Jay Srinivasan – most recent score was a 4th place in The Wild $150 during the Playground Winter Festival.
- Marko – a past winner of a similar event to The $250 Frenzy held in 2013.
- Isham Yamani – has had many deep runs in Playground events, most notably a 3rd place finish just the other night in The Wild $150.
Added to these names are several other experienced players – there’s not really a “spot” to be found!
Front runners
Players are just filing back in after their first break of the day. There are 175 entries in this flight, and of that number there are still 155 left in the action.
During the break we found three early front runners in the event with over 50K each in tournament chips.
- Michael H Dunn – 69K
- Melanie Ares – 54K
- Tianshu Liu
Interestingly, Michael and Melanie are playing on the same table.
Photos from Level 3
There’s one level left to play until the first break and participation in this flight has grown to 164 entries, following the normal upward trend as we get close to the final starting flights.
Among the participants are several “regular” Playground big-event visitors who have now arrived in the Montreal area to join the series for this event and will continue as we move towards the WPT Canadian Spring Championship. This includes Brian Bond, who won an edition of The Wild $150 last year and final tabled in the same event just a few weeks ago!

On to Day 1c
It’s the second day of starting flights for The $250 Frenzy and this morning the action will get started with Day 1C in the event – the 3rd of 6 starting flights! Players are now making their way into the Tournament Hall to take their place for what is sure to be an intense day of poker action as players attempt to qualify for Day 2 in the event.
Late registration will continue through 4 30-minute levels plus the first 15-minute break, which means that you can join the tournament any time until 1:15pm. Late registrants start with a full stack, so don’t be shy!
Good luck to everyone today!
What they’re playing for
Poker players are always playing for prize money, but in big events there’s usually an additional prize they’re fighting for, and the Playground Poker Spring Classic presented by partypoker.net is no exception!
In addition to his or her prize money, each side-event champion will also receive a stunning Spring Classic bracelet, produced exclusively for this tournament series. The first two bracelets have already been awarded in Events 1 and 2, but there are another 13 left to be awarded. Maybe one will be awarded to you!
